St John's Wort for anxiety - confused

Anyone tried it? I'm confused in that it says on the packet that it's not for people diagnosed with depression. Eh?! I thought that's exactly what it WAS for? I've been diagnosed with PND but it's anxiety really coming under the umbrella of PND as it's after the birth of DD.

SJW is a mild mood lifter that can help with mild to moderate depression. It does not actually do much for anxiety, unlike modern ADs who can work on both depression and anxiety.

In my opinion there is nothing safe and well tested among the natural supplements that really helps with anxiety (there are things that work but they have risks and side effects and should not be used unsurpervised).

IME you're better off with ADs from the doc. Don't take SJW with anything else.

Personally I have found SJW effective for moderate depression and mild anxiety but you would have to try it ans see. Check out Kelly's St Johns Wort web site for lots of good advice and experiences.
It does interact with some medications such as contraceptive pill.
