CBT for bipolar

How effective is CBT for a depressive episode in someone diagnosed with bi-polar?

In conjunction with medication, very I found. I hadn't been diagnosed when I had CBT (but still was bipolar) and it was quite literally a life saver

Thank you. My BIL had been diagnosed before Christmas during a manic episode but has now been depressed for quite a while and on treatment for 4 weeks and has asked his consultant about CBT. We are hoping it will help
