Can't shift the depression

How the fuck do I shift this depression? Just when I think I?m over it, back up it comes. My life is great, I should be enjoying every moment of it. But I just want to curl up and disappear.

Even the weather is great.

Have you seen Dr. are you on medication?

I've seen a doctor - tried citalopram and effexor with horrendous side effects. Tried amitriptyline as well which made me put weight on.

I went back to no medication, at least that way I know that what I'm feeling is caused by me rather than what I'm taking.

I'm having counselling, and it's OK, but not amazing. I get the feeling it's more a case of playing whack-a-mole with the symptoms rather than looking at the underlying causes.

I know I have terrible self esteem, and I always have.

My dd takes ads side effects at first were terrible but once she got past that stage they have really helped, she says she feels like herself again.

Maybe you should talk to Dr. about different medication.

I understand having no meds and managing it yourself. No great advice here I'm afraid but slinging my arm round your shoulder in comradeship against the Big D.

I have ups and downs (more downs of late) and try and attribute it to lack of sleep/money worries/ill physical health etc, anything but to label it as depression. Placebo etc

Hope it lifts soon for you
