Does anyone have any experience with tourettes syndrome? not the obvious symptoms but the lesser known ones such as laughing at funerals and suffering uncontrollable laughter at things that just arnt funny at the most innapropriate times? sometimes the uncontrollable urge just to scream or do something stupid like draw a rude picture on an official document?

Everyone gets those urges, they're intrusive thoughts, though some people have a lot more of them than others. Common intrusive thoughts are things like 'what would happen if I pushed that person down the stairs' or 'I'm going to scream at the top of my lungs' - when in a library. And laughing is a common reaction to nervousness/awkwardness. I laughed hysterically at my gran's funeral... In actual fact I was utterly devastated. There was absolutely nothing amusing to me whatsoever, I think people thought i was having some sort of mental breakdown.

Not an expert but think that Tourettes is when those urges are actually carried out, and frequently carried out at that. So if you experience these things but don't have the common traits of tourrettes then I wouldn't be too concerned. And if you DO have tourrettes and you're wondering whether these things are another part of it... Then I don't know!

Intrusive thoughts are a common symptom of OCD as well, which if I'm not mistaken, occurs in a reasonable proportion of people with tourrettes too.
