Full moon - anyone noticed a difference in their mood. How?

I used to think I got raging PMT/PMS - but no dates seem to match up, it's not mid cycle or whatever, seems to vary a lot. Bought a shed load of vitamins which seemed to help a bit when I remembered to take them.

Yesterday, I was feeling crushingly insecure, down and hopeless, no joy with kids etc...just wanted to run away.

Have noticed a full moon is coming up on Thursday.

Am bipolar but have been episode free for years.

I'm really curious if anyone else - either with BP or not - has noticed the moon affects their mood, and if so, how and in what way? And, what do you do about it?!

Oh yep - definately! And I know lots of people, especially women, that swear that they have mood changes as well. Various bits of research says that there are higher crime rates on a full moon and that there are more phone calls to crisis/ help lines around these times too.

However, I've also seen stuff that says that it's all nonsense (I think Steve Pinker was one reseracher). Personally, I don't believe science has all the answers or found all the ways to measure what we think and feel and it's good to go with what you know feels right.

Some people I know say that some types of yoga are good or just hibernating for a day of two if possible.

Also, I think it is so interesting that you say you're bipolar - I wonder if it makes you more sensitive to the moon's phases.

(Just read this back and realise that I am both a hippy and a geek! Hurrah!)

Yes, most definitely! It always seems to magnify my mood, whatever that is at the time. DP has to be kept on a short leash at full moon time too, given half a chance he'll spend a fortune.

Yes, definitely! I'm really emotional at the moment.

I was really down yesterday, bit better today, prehaps the moon?

Absolutely. I have been mad as a box of frogs all week. Have also started my period which is no coincidence as is always in sync with the full moon. I think it's to do with the way the moon affects the tides and also the water/tides/chemicals in our bodies etc.
