a lovely country care home near Nottingham which can offer respite care for my Dad who has vascular dementia. He is young - 69 and relatively fit and healthy. He wants to be able to walk in a garden and look at the birds and I want people to be kind and supportive of him and his worries. Preferably I want him to be with youngish people but know that this is unlikely to be possible. He is lucid for lots of the time but obsessive at times and very anxious.

My Mum is ill and struggling to cope and look after him as well - she will recover - she has TB and has had a bad reaction to the TB drugs and so is too ill to cope at the moment. Dad has been in a care home in town just to give her a break to recover and he hates it. I need to try to find somewhere else more suitable for when she needs another break. I am far away and it's just so hard.

I sympathise lots - and I think this is probably not the best place to post this as only a few of us have anything to do with dementia. You're best off trying a high traffic general area like _chat I think.

You can ring Social Services adults/elderly team to ask for a list of addresses or even a recommendation.
