Ive been self harming for 3 years now. And finding it very difficult to keep the thoughts from my head. I know it isn't the answer to any of my problems but can't seem to stop. It's been my coping mechanism for so long now. Can anyone help me.

I've found that my (very mild) SH has mostly gone now I've dealt with all the crap that was causing it in therapy.

I find this information useful, it's from Safeline, an organisation that has helped me a lot.

I think you need to find the cause and treat it with therapy. I self harmed as a teen, i was mixed up, in a crap relationship with a older lad who treated me like crap, i was not in a happy place. Once i removed the cause and became happy with myself the self harm just disapeared (it wasn't easy).
