Hypnotherapy for low self esteem/ confidence problems

Has anyone used or have any experience of a hypnotherapist for self esteem issues and general lack of confidence?

I am a shy person and my confidence is rock bottom at the moment - mainly due to being at home all day by myself with 2 young dc's.
I am going back to work part time soon and I just wish I could get rid of this nagging feeling of feeling awkward and almost panic when people talk to me.

I have tried Paul McKenna confidence boosting cd but wondered if hypnotherapy may be useful. Other than that has anyone got any other tips or things to try?

I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your hypnotherapy question but did identify with the situation of going back to work. When my children were younger I went through the same situation. I am not an extrovert sort of person and was also at home in a very rurally isolated location. When the prospect of going back to work part time arose I was sick with worry and concern. I felt so nervous my whole body was screaming not to do it, I drove to work feeling like I wanted the whole thing to be over and to be able to dash back home. Once there I was nervous and it was tricky getting to grips with new things but I was utterly amazed with how supportive people were and how I was able to do far more than i expected.

I suppose I'm saying that the actual being at work will probably help with your lack of confidence (and some of the shyness) itself. I firmly believe that being at home all day without much company is one of the most crippling experiences (in terms of self confidence), you will feel much better once you break out a little.
That said, I'll also be interested in anyone has hypnotherapy experiences!
