sertraline while breastfeeding a toddler?

My son is 2 and a bit yrs old. Before I was pregnant, I was on sertraline for panic attacks & depression (I stopped gradually early in pregnancy). I've been on a downhill slide since he was very small, I won't bore you with the details but it's got to the point where I have to do something & counselling hasn't worked.

I been doing some research on the effects of sertraline but all the studies seem to be about tiny babies (general gist is that it crosses into babies' bloodstream but doesn't have any effect, hmm.)

DS is on about 3 feeds a day, has never had bottles & is very attached to the boob (and me - won't even let his dad bath him, gets hysterical if he tries). Stopping BF would be a nightmare, I'm hoping he'll gradually lose interest.

Whenever I've started a course of sertraline (last one lasted about 3 yrs!) I've felt completely out of it, sick & shaky for at least a week - would DS experience any of this do you think? Wouldn't be so bad for a tiny baby, they'd probably just sleep, but a toddler?

Has anyone got any experience they could share please? I can't go on like this. I don't want to harm my baby (with drugs) but don't know how to stop BF (and don't really want to) and it's not fair on anyone for me to do nothing and just pretend that everything's ok. It quite clearly isn't.

Same here, been on it since June-ish I think, dose has increased quite a bit but no obvious effect on DD, who is now 14m :)

I'm on it with 4mo DS. Like you it takes a while for me to get used.to it when starting/increasing.

I was on it throughout pregnancy and breastfed for 16 months or so. I didn't notice any impact on DD at all. If I hadn't been on sertraline.... well that's a whole other scenario!
