How do you convince someone to get help for depression

Im 99.99999% sure that DP is going through a bad depression.......How do I convince him to speak to someone who can help?

Im not an expert but I think that a visit to the doctor would help.

He say there is nothing wrong but he is sinking deeper and deeper into depressive behaviour - I cant force him to go and feel like he will do nothing until something really bad happens to make him admit there is a problem

anyone been there before?

sorry I can't help although I have a friend in a similar situation so can only say that you are not alone

Sorry sixthsense but you can't make him go. I speak from experience here too.

You can tell him what you think and perhaps a little research into treatments etc so he is aware of what help there is but at the end of the day it is up to him. Offer to go with him to his gp if it will help too.
Of course if it is very severe you could issue some kind of ultimatum?

My dh has suffered with depression on and off for nearly 10 years and it is only when it gets desperately bad that he will seek help.
