Hi everyone....thanks to the lovelies on MN..I have been luck enough to recieve great support for my OCD. Bit of background...I have compulsions to clean(not a bad thing I hear you say) & also have small rituals & over-powering thoughts.
I anyone would like to use this thread for help...or to offer advice...let's not do this alone.

Hi wifey - I have been on the other thread you started in General Health.
Probably better placed to have a thread on OCD in Mental Health - lets hope it gets used and provides a great support mechanism!

Thanks for setting up! Smile

Hope you're doing ok...

Not doing too bad thank you. Just have to remind myself of the rational me and remember that the thoughts arent hurtful, its the OCD!
I know if I wasnt OCD-ing about my pregnancy / baby it would be about something else as I have had OCD for 10 years and the topics change all the time! I can imagine I'll be obsessing about the baby when it is here even when it has arived as a normal, healthy, perfect, beauitful baby!

Just need to beat this bully and stay focussed!! We can do it!! Smile

Have you got long to go positiveplus?
I must admit I did/still check my DS is breathing when asleep...he is 19 months.
But I believe that as a parent you do tend to worry about your children all the time...regardless if OCD is looming on your shoulder or not.
I've had OCD for about 8 years...strangely it becomes a part of life...I am getting better at understanding it after years of ignoring it.

Hi, I was pleased and relieved to see this thread. I have had OCD during he last stages of pregnancy and then since my daughter was born ( 14 months ago). have compulsions to clean and have fears about contamination. Also, I wash hands compulsively. What HUGELY helped me was getting CBT - really helped me to challenge the thoughts and stop doing certain behaviours. Have also read a book by Fiona Challacombe called challenging OCD - fab book.Take care of yourselves.

Welcome pinky....I have never met someone who has the same 'cleaning compulsion' as me! Smile
Let this be a safe haven where when we are having a bad day...we can come here for support. Smile

Hello...been a bit absent recently! How is everyone? Quick re-cap...i spent a whole week obsessing about 3 of my close friends being pregnant...as me & DH are ttc. It literally consumed my thoughts & I was so annoyed. Blush
I am so embarrassed of those feelings now as I am genuinely happy for each of them! But the strange thing is that I obsessed for a week...went to bed..woke up & haven really thought about it since. It feels as though I exhaust myself with a topic & then it disappears. Hmm
