I'm not sleeping well. Feel incredibly tired this evening. Really just need to put the kids to bed and crash out myself. Trouble is there is so much to do.

What can I get away without doing? - bath/stories etc (not an option), tidy (will be nightmare tomorrow if I leave it), ignore the washing up (will have no bottles tomorrow or favourite plates/cups), forget dinner (could do with a hot meal, but it wont do me any harm to miss it - but also DH will epxpect a meal left for when he gets in late tonight), don't check emails (my lifeline), keep off MN (seem to be addicted at the moment), washing and ironing.... Help!!

don't bother with baths. do a joint story. do the absolute minimum of tidying and washing up.
put a stew in the oven... one pot, easy...

Get off computer. Only do the essential washing up. Bread and cheese/beans on toast for dinner for you and DH. You'll feel even more tired if you don't eat enough. I think missing the baths out is OK.

2nd missing out the baths - won't hurt them for one day - or do you have a shower? They could have a quick shower if you're REALLY desperate to clean them. Joint story (have confess this is one I often skip if I'm really zonked out)

Agree you must eat - not sure about beans on toast for you and DH (but then it wouldn't fill DH up so I wouldn't dare offer him that for his meal) any chance you can order a pizza in or something??? Wash up only the bare essentials (bottles, plates and cups - put the rest in water to soak so it's not to hard tomorrow.

if you have plenty of veg and some lentils/beans then chuck it all in the oven with some stock and seasoning and mixed herbs for a couple of hours.

add meat if you have any/aren't veggie!

or if you have any mince then brown it, chuck in oven with tin toms, onion, chilli powder and tabasco. serve with rice

nice easy meals that will fill you up but don't take too long to make and minimum washing up!

Thanks everyone. I know I shouldn't have come back on here, but wanted to see if anyone had replied.

Thanks for the easy meal ideas starlover. Actually just put couple chicken breast in bowl with some soy sauce to marinade. Will do with plain rice and veg later, so v easy.

Will try to leave this alone now. But why is it when you are tired, it is just easier to sit in front of a screen than actually do something useful??

notastrongwomanme - I'm replying to this old thread cos i'm feeling similar these days.
I cook a meal & eat with dd at 5pm every day (if it's too early for you you can heat it up later) so I don't have to bother cooking in the evening. I still get hungry later but snack. I don't have a DH but I have a boyf who comes over a couple of times a week, I simply cook double and he heats it up when he comes in.

I just veg in front of the telly all evening these days, I'm lucky enough to have 1 very chilled out dd so i squeeze all housework in during the day. (I don't work either.) I personally couldn't give up dd's bath, it's cast in iron as her bedtime routine. But I do use her bathtime to either relax a bit or clean the bathroom! I sit in the bathroom reading my magazines. it works well for us both because previously bathtime was a hurried affair and poor dd loves her bath!
