I am on 40mg Citalopram. According to leaflet on Beechams Cold and Cough I can't have them if on tricyclic (sp) Ads. Anyone know what I can have?

Citalopram is an SSRI not a tricyclic!

Oh Madmouse is it? I have no idea why I thought that.

Tricyclics are the more old-fashioned ADs. They are used less but still very good for some people.

SSRIs are a newer type that works by stopping the body reabsorbing some of the serotonin so your serotonin levels are higher making you feel better. For most people the side effects of SSRIs like citalopram are more easily tolerated.

If the leaflet specifically states tricyclic you are ok taking them. It's ibuprofen that needs to be avoided with citalopram.

You are a star Madmouse thank you so much. I will read the leaflet again. Smile
