Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. A way of helping you change unhelpful thoughts in to more helpful ones. Very popular on the NHS as a quick fix method. Can be very effective with depression, anxiety, phobias.

There is something called trauma focused CBT which can work in PTSD.

I would say at the moment you are not in a place where CBT would work and your situation is too complex for it.

It's too soon for you to move on, as much as I recognise the need to do so from my own experience. I believe that you need longer term gentle and supportive counselling, not 6 sessions of CBT with a half trained CPN as if too often the case.

Not what you want to hear I'm sorry. But the damage to you has been done over time, it will take time to sort it out.

I just hate the lack of control and thought it might go some way to regaining the independant woman I was 3 months ago. Thanks for the info.

You are still that woman - hold on to that.
