I was just windering if anyone has any experience of l-tryptophan? I've been prescribed and was wondering how long it takes to work/if it does work/if there are any nasty affects or anything

Did your doctor tell you not to take any supplement of vitamin, mineral, herbal etc without checking with him/her that it is safe?
You mustn't self medicate with even the 'safest' supplement without checking for cross-tolerance/contraindications.

Also have you had education regarding side effects and reporting of?

if not, please go back and ask for education on these. Don't get it off of the internet.
Good luck with your new med.

thanks nursenic - tbh i saw a junior (normally i see the boss - not sure why i didn't this time) and he didn't really explain a lot about it. It was suggested a few months ago but we didn't go into much detail as by coinsidence i'd just seen a documentary about people who had died from taking it so i wasn't keen

Please get some proper advice. It can be really really effective but like all meds, proper guidance is needed. Do you have a CPN? Another mental health professional you could see?
Make an appointment. Please.
