Very stressed, need help

Need somebody to talk me through this. I do some voluntary work and one of the paid staff put in a formal complaint about me saying that I said things I didn't say. This staff member has previously shouted at me and sent me shouty emails, but telling lies about me is really hard to take. The complaint has taken two months to investigate and I can't take the stress.

I think what I need help with is to accept the fact that she's won, however wrong I think that is. I need to get over it, much bigger injustices happen in the world. I need to try to forgive her and move on, I'm just not coping with the stress though. If I was a paid employee I would have left a long long time ago, because I'm a volunteer though I can't.

As a volunteer, you will be able to access the organisation's grievance/complaint's procedure, and there will usually be a designated member of the board of trustees/management committee with responsibility for volunteers.

I recently handed in my notice at a voluntary organisation because of bullying and unprofessionalism. Sad

Yes, sad and pathetic.

But oh so hard to deal with.

I had the same at a job and left also in the end, it was stressing me out too much.
The only thing I can think of as the reason is that she was jealous of me...(moi?!).

She wanted my job, and I heard afterwards from another (lovely) ex-colleague that they did give her a chance at it, but she failed miserably. There was also a racist incident where she left someone out in the cold just because of their nationality.

All I can think is Thank God I'm not like her!!

Good idea to keep a dairy, a log and yes, print out those emails.

Yes good advice.

The complaint she put in was from her and all the other staff and it now turns out the rest of the staff had no idea that their names were on the complaint and didn't say the things she said. It too late now though the complaint has been investigated, all done. The rest of the staff never saw the complaint that their names where on and had no ides about it, this question was never asked of them.

Its a very small charity, I'm the chair, according to the constitution I can't leave until an AGM.
