moving from citalopram to sertraline

Any one done this? How is it? I'm dreading the changeover, and not really that sure that it will be worth it. I'm reducing the c and introducing the s tomorrow.

I did this a few months ago because the C was making me worse rather than better. It was a good move, as the symptoms that were caused by the C stopped, but I haven't really seen much improvement in the rest of it yet. I'm not worse though, so it hasn't done any harm. (If doses matter: I think I was only on 20mg of C, and I was originally put on 50mg of S but it's now been upped to 100.)

I don't really think the citalopram makes me worse. I've been on 40mg for ages, and psychiatrist thought that sertraline would be better suited. It's just scary making the change. At least I knew where I was with the citalopram.

Hi Mosp, I changed from citalopram (40mg) on Thursday to 50mg Sertraline becasue I found out I'm pregnant. Not sure how it is going but felt a bit odd this morning. So that's not very helpful at all, sorry! But I just wanted to let you know that there is someone out there doing the same thing at the same time!

Thanks wookie. I haven't felt any difference (yet), but today was only the second day. Have you reduced the citalopram to 30mg or come off it suddenly because of the pregnancy? Hope it goes well for you.

I have stopped citalopram completely. Hope your change over goes well. X

Hi Mosp. Getting on ok I think. Got a med review with the doc this afternoon. I think the dose might need to be upped a bit as I've had a few rough days this week. How are you getting on?

I'm now on 100mg sert and still 20mg citalopram. I'm finding it to be a really positive change personally. Wish it had been tried before! Did you have rough days when on citalopram as well? I hope it gets sorted for you. x
