Finally had to admit i couldnt manage my pnd without ads and just come home with dothiepin tabs. I went in wanting SRIs, but have come out with one the old style tricyclic. He wanted me to have this because of the breastfeeding, but I am slightly concerend about feeling drowsy. I used tricyclics 18 years ago and remember feeling really crap in teh mornings. I am sure they ahve changed, and cant even remember which one I had before. I feel really nervous about taking the first tablet and just wondered if anyone else had had experience. I am sure adrift at least has mentioned them before.

Thanks x

hi pinkmama!
If you are worried I think some ssri's are fine with breastfeeding (sertraline def is)...
i was on dothiepin briefly but they felt it was too much of a risk for me so took me off. I felt quite tired on it... dothiepin has been around for yonks!

I guess it's worth a try though... yuou can always change if the side-effects are horrible...

I didn't know you had pnd... how old is baby now?

pinkmama · 06/12/2005 20:42

hello starlover, not seen you for ages! dd2 is 19 weeks. I didnt know you had pnd either! How is ds? what did you do about the midwifery course inb the end?

For some reason gp wasnt keen on sris. he felt older opnes were safer. I dont care as long as they work, but as i said, drowsiness is a fear given i have to get up and to school every day. I am in enough trouble for being late as it is!

sorry, meant to ask why was it seen as a risk for you?

they thought I would od on them ... apparently it doesn't take many of them to kill you!!! I don't have PND, but was prescribed them a while ago for depression.

ds is fine! just started walking, he's only just coming up for 10 months!
Decided not to take up my place at Uni... wanted to spend all my time with ds. So, will wait a while and then re-apply

I think that is a good idea. Amazing at ds walking. Cant believe that little bundle I met is now up and about! Would be lovely to meet up at some point. Hope you are well.
