So fed up, went to see a mortgage consultant this morning. Reckons he can stretch us to about £87,000.00 Where on earth we going to find a house for six of us for that. Suppose we could always go and live in a cardboard box.

No point relying on council as 18 months in a hostel when your made homeless. We have till March, poss August in this house. We also need a car as our car comes with the job, so do we spend saved money on deposit for a house or a car.

We've gone from a secure life to absolutly nothing in six months. All because of two peoples actions, that now affect the whole family.

What happened???

handlemecarefully · 30/11/2005 16:16

Please don't think this is flippant / facetious but I think that 'mobile' homes but in a fixed location can be quite cheap to buy but surprisingly good accommodation. It might do as an interim until your life gets back on track?

Have you seen Citizens Advice etc?

walkinginawinterBundleland · 30/11/2005 16:18

have you been in touch with any housing assns? a colleague of mine bought a flat with shared ownership, where you buy part and rent part, and means you can "afford" a mortgage much greater than your income would suggest.

Zephyrcat · 30/11/2005 16:19

shared ownership is a fantastic idea - a couple of my mum's friends have houses this way. definately worth looking into.

walkinginawinterBundleland · 30/11/2005 16:20

(the woman i work with bought a flat in central london, which she'd deffo never be able to afford normally)

Have been in touch with HA huge waiting list for shared ownership and no funding for DIY shared ownership.

All this is a result of dh affair. Our job, house, car all come as a package, but did he think of that when he did what he did? no!

I presume you're no longer with him??

longwaytogo · 30/11/2005 21:17

Wrong I am still with him. He knows he's been a total plank

Did he lose his job as a result of his affair then?

longwaytogo · 01/12/2005 22:37

yep
