Cordial definitely sounds like a plan.

I hope nobody's feeling the worse for the weather. I know it really affects some people :( I've got a cmht appointment now.

cityhobgoblin · 03/08/2011 20:09

Good to see you having a glass there with TIANC , upward . Surviving well , thanks , hope you're not suffering ? Is sleep stiill very difficult , without the heat making it worse ?

Good to hear you 've made an appt for tomorrow - would you expect to get a little more input from cmht worker / s than from your cpn ? or are my questions more hindrance than help Blush. Hope you have a nice evening . So good to have you back !

I recall madmouse saying mouseling is very interested in food ... wonder if he'd like to pick a few cyber blackberries from our wild patch , or is the taste too tart for his palate ? < adds little dish of icecream if his Mum allows >

Upwardandonward · 03/08/2011 20:34

I'm sure ripe blackberries are sweet-tasting, at least in the cybergarden.

Your questions aren't a hinderance. I'm not sure they need to see me, it wasn't my idea, but i will go. On a different note, I'm amazed how cool my ground floor flat is, and hope everyone has RL cool places to.be

madmouse · 03/08/2011 22:19

Lol Hob I haven't been keeping up but had to comment on the suggestion that ds would find any fruit too tart.

The boy takes after his mum and eats limes and lemons Grin

Hi hob, and thanks for posting. I do dislike this weather, but have not really been inconvenienced, but good for you, able to bustle about and do more spring cleaning.
We had a CO in my family too, but my non-Quaker father decided to volunteer, despite pacifist convictions and reserved occupation. I didn't know until very recently that some British Friends decided to do the same, after consulting conscience.
Tired with heat, so will say a goodnight, sleep well all.

Upwardandonward · 03/08/2011 23:19

Sleep well shodatin and e eryone

shodatin · 03/08/2011 23:21

Apologies people, I seem to have missed half-a-page of posts....
Glad you have some back-up tomorrow, upward, and I do hope you find it useful.
Noting your comment about the cool ground-floor, I wonder if you've actually managed to move this year ? Seem to remember you were not too happy with your flat when you first posted, and just wondered.

Hope this gets posted somewhere vaguely suitable this time - night again.

ThisIsANiceCage · 04/08/2011 00:51

Grin at sour-loving mouseling! hob you are such a darling to remember everyone's favourite things, like the cybergarden's DCs' food-likes.

Glad your flat is cool, Upward, and that hob and shodatin are surviving the heat. My house has cold side, too - bearly habitable in winter but a real blessing at this time of year.

That's a lovely story about your Gran's locket, hob. So glad your grandad made it back home safely and with MH intact - the Far East does seem to have been a particularly difficult place for that. As you say, many tales of similar (alas not all happy for my family, many of whom were volunteers - no call up in African countries). Very moving to hear of shodatin's father's decision to put aside his objections.

Good luck with appointment tomorrow, Upward. Even if you don't have an acute need to see them, it's probably good to have someone checking-in with you for a few months. Will be thinking of you.

In the meantime, sleep well all!

cityhobgoblin · 04/08/2011 14:28

Hello everyone - torrents of refreshing rain here for parched gardens .

Hi upward , we're all thinking of you today as you go to see what the cmht want to help you with ... they are always being urged to set up outreach programmes etc to help prevent clients suffering blips where it can be prevented so I hope you won't find it too stressful . Very glad for all with cooler parts of their home - I too have a cooler room , phew .

Am intensely moved TIANC at the thought of your African relatives volunteering to join up and deeply sorry and shocked that a number of them lost their lives . They showed the most profound courage and selflessness .
I wondered if there was a poem which commemorates African volunteers , but I haven't found a specific one so far , though they must exist ..

You must be greatly proud of your Father , shodatin , going with his conscience when it must have been very painful to him . Agree that pacificism is about searching your conscience in such a serious situation , not taking a default "stand" , and I know Friends have volunteered . Really hope your Father didn't suffer MH distress , and that was able to be quietly - sadly - content to have done his difficult duty .

Non - puckering mousling - splendid child Grin , hilarious . Thank you madmouse , your boy brings us great delight . Hope you're OK and mousling is enjoying exploring life .

You're lovely to me TIANC , but all I knew was that mousling adores tasty food . I love seeing small children out blackberrying and thought it would be fun for the grownups in our cybergarden too < bad person >

Hope we all have a good afternoon BrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrew

Upwardandonward · 04/08/2011 16:23

I've just had some mango & lime juice, made me think of mousling!

I hope the cybergarden isn't too soaked today, although some rain is good :)

My appointment is tomorrow some time, I knew it would be before the weekend..

ThisIsANiceCage · 04/08/2011 16:38

Mmm, mango & lime...

shodatin · 04/08/2011 17:53

I do hope you're having a better day upward, with fewer intrusive thoughts, and will be thinking of you tomorrow.
No cool room here unfortunately, but it is well-insulated including the curtains, which I learned early on to draw against the sun, including the one on the glass hall door, which now stays in place year round for just that reason.
Yes, Father was frequently inspiring (and annoying!) but never spoke of that time so I don't know. I was recently delighted to hear from an old friend that she still put a lump of sulphur in sick dog's drinking bowl, which I'd told her Father (pharmacist) used to do, and she's been practicing around the Mediterranean Marinas for last twenty-odd years - he would be so pleased that animals were benefitting internationally!

Upwardandonward · 04/08/2011 18:26

Thanks shodatin , I'm hoping they'll calm soon, as I'd rather avoid this particular blip. I'm not really sure what they can suggest, but hopefully something helpful (even knowing they should dissipate would help).

I'm glad you have some environmental control.

shodatin · 04/08/2011 23:05

Upward, I'm sure the professionals have heard of this problem and can suggest some techniques to help, am just surprised you've been at home alone for so long without anyone to enquire if this was happening. I suppose we shouldn't complain, knowing there is always a staff shortage, but I'm glad you'll finally have opportunity of discussion very soon now. (Also hope you have good rapport with new person).

Have had a good day getting misc. TVs sorted - complicated situation cleared up (at reduced rate) by someone who actually wanted to help, such a good feeling I wanted to share it before going to bed. Goodnight all, sleep cool.

ThisIsANiceCage · 05/08/2011 00:16

Sorry to hear the intrusive thoughts have been continuing, Upward. Hope the CPN can give you a bit of a booster to coping with those, as shodatin says.

FWIW, for me the negative thoughts did dissipate. I can't pretend it happened quickly, and it was a painful, exhausting few years. Yet dissipate they eventually did, like mist as the sun comes up.

It took me a long time to feel that surviving was actually worth enduring the pain - especially given I've been housebound, in physical pain and struggling to move, read, think or speak coherently for some of the subsequent years. But I can look back at a few things and say, I made that humble good thing happen and it wouldn't have happened without me. And that's made it worth it.

Sorry, do please ignore any of my burbling that isn't helpful - everyone's experience is so different.

ThisIsANiceCage · 05/08/2011 00:38

So glad to hear you have asserted your mastery over pieces of technology, again, shodatin. I know just what you mean about that "Ha-hah" when something finally gets sorted.

hob, how can blackberrying ever be bad? Grin Unless done in one's Sunday best, of course!

Hope kizzie and madmouse and butterpie had good days - and didn't get washed away! Shared your downpour here, Upward!

Night all, hope sleep finds us all.

Upwardandonward · 05/08/2011 11:10

Morning everyone! Iced Brew at the ready in the cybergarden, and some mixed berries.

The plan is more drugs, increasing today and the next few days, which I hope I will tolerate and may help with the thoughts. Not great, but worth it if the thoughts subside. Wish I could handle them as well as negative thoughts.

shodatin · 05/08/2011 14:00

Hello upward, and thanks for reminder of the iced Brew.
I do hope you can manage the increased drugs, and am sure you know how to start taking them, monitor effects etc . Am assuming you've had a discussion with the new nurse about increasing the drugs, and hope you feel she (I've only met females) understands your problem.
I know your assortment of drugs have to be continually balanced (can't remember technical name) so I do hope they get the extra one right first time and that you're soon feeling like yourself again.

I'll skip the berries thanks, still rarely eat between meals, plus I can see from the house that my blackberries are only red, so not appealing at all. Am sure they're good-for-you, so please have my share!

Upwardandonward · 05/08/2011 14:17

I'm told berries have less calories than e.g. banana or mango (trying to lose weight currently). I had a discussion with the dr re: drugs, at the moment the symptoms they should help are worse than the side effects, so it's not a tough decision. I might be a bit knocked out for a few days, but I don't want to get unwell so I'll aim for compliance.

ThisIsANiceCage · 05/08/2011 15:04

Ooh, thank you for Brew and berries! Yum to both!

Hope the drug increase goes well, and they do help. At least you have a bit of warning of the knocked days, and can plan around them - bit annoying in lovely weather, but I hope not too disastrous.

Sun has come out just as I was typing - does everyone else have it too?

ThisIsANiceCage · 05/08/2011 15:04

knocked out days

cityhobgoblin · 05/08/2011 21:16

I'm sure you're very wise to try increasing dose ,upward, a& I really hope it goes smoothly & effectively . Indeed we hope you will avoid a blip and send you soppy hugs if you are feeling knocked out tonight .

Mixed berries sound lovely , thank you , upward . Hope you're able to have a couple of little treats to help you through weekend . When you get your broadband you'll be able to use the i- player for the radio as well as TV to treat yourself to more interesting rest time , if you're up to it

Thank you shodatin & TIANC for telling upward your positive tales of recovery . Am very sad either of you had to deal with quite so much . Very glad you got through it & I know such efforts leave emotional scars . I feel very inspired by the spirit you managed to keep alive so you were eventually able to feel glad of later achievements . ( oh yes TIANC , I meant I was being a bad person because I was looking forward to dear mousling amusing us with enthusiastic blackberrying ... )

What a cheering goodnight message shodatin , about v decent person helping you with TV repairs . You are very thoughtful to have remembered how upward's medication has to be precisely combined / balanced - serious stuff.

Fingers crossed for v longlived house repairs , TIANC. Hope we all have relaxing evening - I was pleased because I tackled a dreaded task today - am convinced upward's thread has given me confidence & inspiration to face these mundane but horrid tasks < humbled >

Sorry for v long post

Hi all

I've done half a day at work after two weeks signed off and it was not easy. Am very very tired.

Thankfully being too tired to cook led to me and dh collecting ds from nursery together to go to McDonalds followed by a trip to a nearby park which turned out to have the most amazing playground with lots of things accessible to my disabled mousling. Special family time in the evening sun was a real boost and relaxant Smile.

I bought myself a new 1000 piece puzzle and found my puzzle mat but ave yet to start it. Facebook and telly - too tired Sad

Thanks for telling us about your surprise evening out, madmouse, it must have been a wonderful experience for your little boy to come across all the new playthings, and a perfect end to the evening after a meal out with both parents, he must have been thrilled (and you must be really exhausted, so hope work gets easier).

Agree with you about inspiration from upward's thread, hob. I feel I should make another attempt at increasing my own prescription, instead of moaning about it every weekend and deciding I can't manage any more, so thanks to upward for good example (and hope you get used to yours soon).
It is so difficult to lose weight without exercising, but good luck. I bought some blueberries to snack on (instead of humbugs!) but they're still in fridge....
