Does anyone know of an online questionnaire or something that could help me work out which, if any, of the above I am experiencing? Been brewing a while. Only really just hit me today that I am more than just a bit tired. Thanks.

Yes, there is the Edinburgh test www.netmums.com/support/pndtest/ which can show you your PND score. Good luck.

or you could try this one

Good luck Belindarose, do try and talk to someone if you can. I had a dreadful time trying to get through to my GP's, then the Health Visitor came to see me one day and I just broke down. She has been amazing and I am now seeing someone who really helps!
Thinking of you, just remember that you aren't alone out there!

Thank you. I forced myself to the gp yesterday with some help from some lovely ladies on a thread I started yesterday in 'chat'. Have been given some anxiety meds, so will see how they go. Was at breaking point yesterday. Now I really need some sleep. Don't think I've slept for two nights!

How are you getting on Belindarose? Get any sleep over the weekend? I hope the meds are starting to kick in!

belindarose · 04/04/2011 09:09

Thanks for asking. I reacted really badly to the meds so was even worse over the weekend. Wouldn't have functioned without DH (who I thought was being a total arse). I did manage to sleep last night though. Have a dr appointment at 10am but unfortunately with a different dr, meaning I'll have to go through it all again. And I have DD with me.

Just to let you know, when I started meds for my PND, I was way worse for 2 or 3 days before I started to see an improvement. And I have now seen a real improvement. My DR warned me that would prob happen and it can take up to 2 or 3 weeks to see an improvement.

Belindarose - ADs often make you feel worse before you feel any advantage. This is often because you feel the side effects before the beneficial effects. Do you mind saying what AD you are on. The drugs of choice for depression these days seem to be the SSRIs (citolopram/sertraline) etc. You really need to take them for 2 -4 weeks before you will know if they are the right ones for you. They react differently on different people.

Hope you get some good advice from the GP and start to feel a bit better soon.

belindarose · 04/04/2011 21:22

Thanks for your thoughts. Was given beta blockers rather than ADs. Have had SSRIs in the past but gp last week wanted me to have something quick acting on the anxiety I think. Today's gp (and DH who's a dr) thought dose was probably too high, causing the new and worse symptoms. So now trying lower dose and gp pushing for v urgent cbt. Don't really want other meds as ttc. Feeling okay tonight (relatively!) and will go to work tomorrow. I'm sure the achievement of actually going (and surviving) will be a mental boost in the long run.

Oh well, that was wishful thinking. Woke up at 5am ish in a terrible state. Absolutely terrified, inability to think straight or switch off, really nauseous. The only way I could get up and function a bit was to tell myself I didn't have to go to work and would get signed off for this week (then holidays so off anyway). Immediately began to feel better. Got DD ready and DH has taken her to CM. Will call gp and work at 8am. Now feel like a total fraud because I kind of feel okay.

Yet another gp today! That's 3 different ones in 3 visits. Doesn't help with anxiety levels.
