My son is developing a habit of sniffing continuously and is now shaking his hands - it is as if he needs to expend energy - he says he feels like he wants to run all the time. any ideas? I want to avoid at all costs medication

I've looked into lots of things to treat my hair pulling, which is considered to be an impluse disorder a little bit like tics.

I remember something interesting about brain balancing,( google it), for some people there brain can get stuck in a gear and it's hard to move out of it, and then this behaviour begins.

Brain balancing is to do with bringing the opposite hemisphere on the brain into play to counter act the gear sticking. So dancing, listening to music, paint etc. Supposedly Albert Einstein was big on it !

This might be helpful.

Lots of children do this for a while and totally ignoring it often stops it. Paying attention to it makes it worse. If ignoring it doesn't work see the GP.

What made you write Tourettes in the title?
