Hi,
Having awful anxiety feelings, all day today and they are not going. Last time like this was when I was reducing venlaflaxine and I am not doing that. That time it affected me for months till I restarted meds. Heart pounding, tried every distraction can think of. Does anyone else have this, if so any tips on what else I could try?

Poor you! No alcohol seem to really work really helps. Try and get some exercise or at least fresh air today and I found that absorbing but easy tasks like baking, Sudoku or Tetris can take you out of yourself. Hope someone with more expertise comes along soon, just noticed your thread in unanswered.

'seems to help really helps'- confusion in editing. I found it really helps.

I would be wary of alcohol as you can become dependent on it (I'm not talking alcoholic, but just drinking slightly more than you should)

I know it's not easy, but going out to do something, or even just a brisk walk can help.

Are you on any medication now ? Go to the GP as soon as you can and tell them you need help.

How about a glass of wine to relax you as a short term fix just to give you a break for a few hours. Anxiety is exhausting I find.

Sorry, just realised its 9.00 in the morning Shock ignore that wine advice until after 12.00.

Stupid posting before editing! What I was trying to say was definitely NO alcohol and as much fresh air as possible.

Keziahhopes · 13/03/2011 14:58

Thanks, no I don't drink alcohol so not something i can cut out. Yes, anxiety is exhausting - yesterday couldn't even focus enough on the tv so hard to distract. Managed to get some fresh air today, had none yesterday as too anxious to get out of house - but fresh air was nice.

Thanks for the link sailorsgal, will try that.

OnEdge - I am still on venlaflaxine, that is all. Can concentrate beter today, but my chest is beating lots and anxiety is really high. There is no obvious reason for it either.

Go to GP, the venlaflaxine isn't helping.

How is it now ? Its misery being anxious, I've had years of it. Hope it is fading x

Think gp it will have to be. Had to wait 3 weeks last time for an appointment. Am ok when at work, but when not it is there at different levels. I should be happy, not like this.
