Hello, I tried st john's wort a few years ago and it really helped me. As far as I can remember, it took just over a week / ten days to make a noticeable difference.

I hope it helps you too Smile

About a week, remember to take the propper dose of 3 of the one a day tablets, also get a good make like Kira. It can work out expensive, I find it less expensive to import mine from the US.
This is a good site.

I take one tesco tablet a day and it really helped in a week. It is mild though, so at at the moment it is not really enough, but most of the time it is.

Thanks. What i have noticed is that my appetite is enormous, definately a side effect!

Spooky, was just going to start a thread about St.John's wort when I spotted this. I started taking it a few weeks ago and definitely feel generally "Perkier". I decided to give it a go after taking Prozac for just over week and feeling suicidal with them, with hindsight I should have given them longer to work but the way I felt one day was just too scary to continue.

topsi, is it really OK to take 3 of the one-a-day type? mine are cheapo Tesco ones, but may try Kira.

In Germany SJW is medically prescribed and is infact the most often prescribed AD. Their starting dose is 900mg a day which is 3 of the normal 300mg tablets. I have actually taken up to 6 a day as the medical trials on SJW tested up to 1800mg a day.
Look on the packet though cos I think the Tesco ones may be less than 300mg a tablet.
If you check on my link you will find lots of info. Also people report that different makes of SJW make them feel different, some better for sleep etc.
I take a make called Perika which is only available from the US but actually works out less expensive to import, than buy Kira form over here as it is outrageously expensive in this country. Is it reported as a high quality and high potency make and I certainly felt the difference when I switched to it from Kira.

That's very interesting re increased appetite . The same thing happened with me whilst getting onto Prozac. Was seriously distressing!
