Looks like I'm finishing counselling...

and no not because NHS funding is running out or because I can't have anymore (Safeline lets you have as many as you need) but (eek) because I'm getting ready....

Things still hurt, I still stumble and panic sometimes but I know how to pick myself up and get support. I'm now brave enough to text a friend or call someone if I struggle and strong enough to face a few demons on my own and survive. Could never have thought this last year.

38 sessions so far - 14 on the NHS, 24 with Safeline. And getting ready to go it 'alone' (Never alone again - I'm writing a book with that title!)

Sorry bit excited even though today was at times quite a heavy session.

Just had to get that off my chest Smile

Yes still here! Good on you sweetie Smile

madmouse · 20/10/2010 20:16

aww Nemo thanks x

the charity rang today to say my counsellor is off sick and my response is oh nice I have the morning to myself with ds at school until midday. Guess that's another sign I'm ready. A few months ago I would have been in tears.

that is fantastic news.
I am not ready to go alone but hearing your enthusiasm is so good!

ByThePower you will know when you are ready and definitely don't stop before that - you deserve to have the support for as long as you need it.

Must say I might be more reluctant if I didn't have such a uniquely fantastic support network. It is probably telling that I am more nervous about my closest friends (2 couples) being on holiday this week than I am about having counselling cancelled yesterday and having none next week due to half term.

Thanks, you sound so strong!

madmouse · 23/10/2010 09:34

Not sure I'm strong - I really know myself now and I know when I need a bit of support.

Yes I guess it's better to know your weaknesses and your strengths and plan / act accordingly. I don't feel strong either but I know that is how my friends see me. I'll take their word for it!

It's amazing to think how far you've come in the past few month madmouse. Smile
