This is for me. I have had psychiatric help in the past but not for a few years now. I discharged myself last time but now, I think, in error.

I am having quite a few serious problems now and want to see someone other than my GP. But how do I go about it? I think in the local hospital they are used to dealing with drug users but not so much people who are just suddenly going off the rails. I don't think I can deal with a long waiting list.

thank you. it is okay to PM me.

Can you not ask your GP or a GP if there is a problem with yours and ask for a referral to the psychiatric team as you feel you are running off the rails and have needed their help in the past?

Thanks, I just don't know how it works. So if this is possible, I'll do that. Thank you madmouse

I would agree with that, but also some gp practices where I live have a mental health nurse working in partnership with them...I know as I use the mental health services and have done since my 4th daughter was born 10 years ago..I find no shame or stigma only much help and support..Ive also found our practice nurse a starting point for help with many things..Hope you are able to find help soon
