Am seriously thinking of taking an 8 week mindfulness course - I can barely afford to pay the fees, but think that the long term benefits might really make it worth doing.
A brief outline -I have had OCD for a long time and lots of treatments over the years,I am currently having bereavement counselling as unresolved grief seems to be at the heart of my difficulties. I am also following a CBT self help book and have had some CBT sessions.
If anyone can comment I'd be really grateful !

I think it sounds a really interesting idea.Have never really known too much about the subject until a friend told me about is it John kabat zin think that wa shis name look him up on youtube thought he was amazing what I saw there, have you questioned your counsellor wether they think this course would be appropriate for you?

hi darkandstormy - no, I haven't spoken to her about it (unfortunately I wont be seeing her until the end of Aug and I need to book this asap - however it is recommended in the CBT self help book and I can't see any contraindications !) I am always living in the future or past-anticipating what might happen etc and I don't feel it's helpful so mindfulness practice seems to be just the thing.

Where are you? My MHT was offering courses on the NHS and I think Oxfordshire was trialing the idea too.

MAS I am going to get into this myself a bit more John Kabat Zin has written quite a bit on this I think I will use him as my first port of call. With ref to your course I can only think something positive would come from doing a course like this.Good luck with it,if you decide to do it.
