As promised, here's the new thread for us long fasters as the old one is nearly full.
Check in when you are able and let us know how you're doing!

I've managed a normal week of 16s, 17s and an 18. I am hoping to do 24s soon, but not in time for tomorrow I'm afraid.

Flibbertyjibberty · 30/03/2025 19:58

I’m going to fast tomorrow I think although I did quite a long run this morning and I’m worried I’ll be super hungry. I’m going to play it be ear, I can always do Tuesday instead! For now I’m in though

Jollyjoy · 30/03/2025 21:34

I’m not sure about tomorrow, am due on my period and feeling low energy, may wait a few days and do my fast once it’s started. Will decide tomorrow.

fastingaway · 30/03/2025 23:48

I’m also a little undecided. DS may have a
friend over for dinner tomorrow and it will be awkward if we are all eating and I am fasting so I may do a 18-20hr fast tomorrow or fast Tuesday to Wednesday morning. Undecided at the moment.

LittleLamzyDivey · 31/03/2025 06:06

I start my 3rd week of 3x42's on Tues. It's going fairly well, though the scale refuses to budge. I'm expecting a whoosh any minute...
Good luck to all of you fasting today! 🍀

Flibbertyjibberty · 31/03/2025 06:47

@LittleLamzyDivey are you doing 3 x 42s every week? Very impressive if so! I’m trying to build up to two but I never manage to get past about 24 on the second. It’s probably a mental hurdle more than anything. Any tips? I’ve had my electrolytes this morning and am feeling good so going to try to keep going today. Good luck to other fasters too!

Offtobuttonmoontovisitmrspoon · 31/03/2025 07:35

Please may I join? I was on the last one under a different name but lost my way.

I’m currently doing OMAD but want to try longer fasts again.

126orbust · 31/03/2025 12:13

Going well here so far and I am not hungry.
Have had just 1 cup of tea (with a little milk) so far instead of my usual 3. I will have another one about 2pm if I feel the need but given all the comments on the thread I will be conscious of the quantities as the day progresses.
@LittleLamzyDivey I am in awe of 3 x 42hr fasts. I think I will manage 1 or a maximum of 2 in any 7 day period.
Well done to all fasting or planning fasts today and in the week ahead.

Flibbertyjibberty · 31/03/2025 14:39

@Offtobuttonmoontovisitmrspoonwelcome! OMAD is a good start for longer fasts - you only have to cut out one meal. I’m on hour 20 already so feeling confident I can make it to tomorrow. I always find late afternoon and early evening the hardest part though. I might go to bed super early tonight!

fastingaway · 31/03/2025 15:46

Well I have failed at the first hurdle. Went out for dinner and then had a dodgy tummy through the night and felt nauseous this morning. Decided to eat a crumpet and tea this morning after only a 13 hour fast. I may just try and do low carb for next couple of days and pick up fasting later this week. I may struggle to go straight to a fast.

I made sure I was sugar free before I even thought about fasting. Then a week of skipping breakfast, a week of skipping lunch 3 days a week (24 hour fasts), before trying my first 42. It probably should've been a 36 but I don't do breakfast 😂. I really try to have a few things to do on fasting days (distraction) and make sure to load up on protein & fat on feeding days.

Offtobuttonmoontovisitmrspoon · 31/03/2025 16:11

@Flibbertyjibberty thank you. I used to do weekly 36 hour fasts with no issues. I just got out of the habit.

126orbust · 31/03/2025 16:22

Just made cup of tea 2 ( usually up to 6 by now ) and am looking forward to drinking it. @fastingaway it sounds like you made a sensible choice there.
I will see how I go from here.
Good luck all.

Flibbertyjibberty · 31/03/2025 17:25

@LittleLamzyDivey ha yes I only do 42 because I don’t like breakfast either! It feels wrong to eat before lunchtime

Flibbertyjibberty · 31/03/2025 17:26

@fastingaway the absolutely no point forcing it if it doesn’t feel right - there will be many other days to fast. Some will be great, some won’t

126orbust · 01/04/2025 08:59

Made it through - had another cup of tea at 7.30pm and 7.30 am but weighed in first and 2.5lbs down so that is great. Less great is that I woke up at 4am really hungry and got up and had a glass of water to get back to sleep.
Hopefully still have 1lb gone tomorrow and will eat about 11/11,30 today when the hunger hits.
Well done to everyone who made it this far and beyond.

Flibbertyjibberty · 01/04/2025 10:34

@126orbust well done on getting through! I’m on hour 38 so four to go - I managed a run and a strength workout this morning for the first time in the middle of a fast. Pleased with that! It does seem to be getting easier each week, the first time I did a long fast I could barely get out of bed on day two. Loving the progress

fastingaway · 01/04/2025 14:45

Well done on some fantastic fasts - strong discipline. Looking forward to joining you all soon.

126orbust · 02/04/2025 15:31

Checking in everyone as I'm planning a 24/26 hr fast starting at 7pm tonight.
I am so surprised to still be 1.5lbs lighter this morning despite eating well yesterday and now I'm asking if it was because I had less tea with milk.... pondering....

LittleLamzyDivey · 02/04/2025 16:08

@126orbust Well done, you, on the loss!
I've just ended my first 42 hour fast for the week. Sadly, my refeed started with 2 large chocolate bars. I'm sure I WON'T be 1.5 lbs down tomorrow... 😂

OP posts:
126orbust · 02/04/2025 16:18

Love that @LittleLamzyDivey .
The reason I put I was 'so surprised' to be 1.5lbs lighter is because I had a hefty plate of lamb yesterday that we had left over from Sunday's barbeque.
Sometimes the body wants what it wants...😃

Undrugged · 27/03/2025 00:05

Bloody hell this is mind blowing for me.

Any kind of fast beyond bedtime would see me unable to sleep. And before that, I’d be feeling like I wanted to vomit/ dizzy etc.

yes, I know that humans historically would have had fasting periods. But tell me, do you manage to have fully functional work days whilst completely fasting??

Good question! I've always wondered about that.

Jollyjoy · 02/04/2025 16:44

Hi all, hope you’ve all got lovely sunshine like we do. I’m planning to fast from after dinner tonight, should be done by 6pm I think.

@Illegally18/ @Undrugged- sorry if the question wasn’t answered before. Yes we do days at work, go to the gym, normal things. When I started though I did it on less demanding days, built up to it. Initially I didn’t exercise on fast days but gradually built up to that. Once you’re in the swing of it, fasting brings mental clarity and focus, good sleep etc, so can be great for busy work days.

Thank you for your reply. Haven't started my diet yet. Am planning to start at the end of April. We shall see how it goes....

Jollyjoy · 02/04/2025 16:57

Ps I meant to say fab about the weight loss @126orbust, agree the tea/milk query is interesting… and oh well about the chocolate @LittleLamzyDivey- the fast will have been good for you, whatever you ate after! Well done everyone.
