Feeling fatter than I've ever been. The 4/3 starvation plan has worked in the past but keep falling off now, need a buddy to keep me steady.
My plan is to start tomorrow with a Michael Mosley three day 50 calories per day fast. Followed by 500 calories fast Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays after that eating normally the rest of the time.

Anyone interested in joining me?

I can’t leave you on your own @LudlowStreet . I’d like to join but really not sure of rules and I’ve never heard of the 50 calories per day?

WedTheBed · 06/06/2023 21:35

Yes me! I’ve been starting and stopping for weeks and need to jump back on pretty damn quickly.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 06/06/2023 21:40

50 cals a day for 3 days

That sounds brutal 😭

Partey · 06/06/2023 21:42

I need to lose weight but 50 cals a day?! I couldn’t function

Irishtimer · 06/06/2023 21:44

I’m in- 50 cal sounds horrendous mind 😂

jelly79 · 06/06/2023 21:45

Surely this is a typo?

I've just looked up Michael Mosley and there is no mention of 50 cals

It's something like 800 cals and 50g carbs and at least 50g protein

I think I'd be murderous!

MM did a documentary about ten years ago about fasting. He interviewed a scientist in California would recommend a three day, 50 calorie per day fast. MM had a whole range of health tests before starting (he didn't need these, it was just to see if the diet did anything) then went on this three day fast. After the fast the numbers on all the health tests he did were much improved, no idea how long these improvements lasted though, can't remember.

I've done this diet myself a couple of times as a kick start, I can do it without feeling faint or anything, I know some people wouldn't be able to though. And the poo! Amazingly I had no reduction in the amount of poo I produced over the three days.

Is it meant to be 500 cals? I've just returned to the 5:2 after about 8mths off. Yesterday was my first fast day and it was okay. I'm feeling tired though.

Weighed myself this morning and I’ll the weight I lost in may is magically back! By magically I mean I’ve eaten loads of rubbish! 😂

yesterday was a good day, I skipped breakfast (usually do!) had a packet of Slimfast pretzels and a cup of soup for lunch. Then a little lasagna in the evening.

I’m trying to stick to something like 800-1000 calories a day. I get married in September, my dress fitting will be at the end of July! I need to seriously get into shape😂

LudlowStreet · 08/06/2023 15:17

Day 2, still doing OK, feeling fine and not even very hungry.

Hi @LudlowStreet can I join you? I’m going to be fast 800 but was planning to do a zero calorie couple of days from tomorrow to kickstart myself…I’ve piled weight in since last year and all this year so far I’ve failed constantly to even start. But it’s time.
Well done on how you’re doing so far!!

Of course!
Assuming I don't crack this evening, I'll be on my last 50 calorie day tomorrow, then eating normally at the weekend. Next week I plan 500 calories Monday, Wednesday and Friday, eating loads of delicious food on the other days.

50 calorie fast Day 3 (final day hooray!!!)
Weight 10st 9lb
Not focused on weight though as I plan eating at the weekend so expect that'll put a bit back on and that's fine.
Feeling fine this morning, bit hungry, end in sight.

Starting to struggle.
I always said if I felt weak or faint at any point I would eat. I've got an exercise class at 6pm. I think I'm going to eat a little bit before.

OP posts:
LudlowStreet · 09/06/2023 20:50

So, think I've eaten about 380 calories today. I'm going to consider that a win. It's more that the 50 I hoped to eat but I don't think I would have gotten through my exercise class on that.
Have a delicious breakfast planned for tomorrow, can't wait 😋

I'm doing the fast 800, and today was my second day. Its been really hard especially as I had to cycle for school pick up and I normally avoid exercise when fasting.I feel well overall though. Suffer from quite a lot of bloating and fasting twice a week seems to really help with this. Hopefully I can keep up the momentum and manage this way of eating with real life.

WedTheBed · 10/06/2023 07:38

@LudlowStreet have you calculated how many calories you need to lose weight?

I’m not sure if you know this but if you eat too little calories your body goes into starvation mode then start storing fat; so you won’t lose weight. I’m concerned that you’re only eating a few hundred calories a day or less. Even the fast800 is hard work, comes with symptoms and isn’t suitable for everyone.

I just want to make sure you’re ok! ☺️

I'm going to weight myself this morning, start my day with a meal replacement shake then try not to snack all day! - I’ve got a food shop coming Sunday with all my low calorie meals and Slimfast bars (the chocolate and caramel bars are delicious and make a great low calorie treat!)

Thank you for your concern. I've done this diet before and it worked for me, I'm hoping it'll work again.

The three day 50 calorie thing was just a short term kick start, as much to get my head into the right space as to lose a bit of weight. Going forward, I'll be having 500 calories a day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, eating normally (as in no diet) the rest of the time. I'm going to do a lot of cooking on Sunday so I can make some home made 'ready meals' for the week. Mainly so my teenagers can help themselves as I'll be late home most days. I'll also make a big pan of vegetable soup for my fast days. I'm trying to avoid ultra processed foods although I think diet coke will be my downfall on that.

Anyway, Day 4 weight, the scales hovered between 10st 8lbs and 10st 7lbs this morning. Just have two cappuccinos, large glass of home made smoothie, one chocolate croissant and one piece of toast with butter. I was actually quite full after the croissant and should have binned the toast. For dinner I'm going to have home made curried vegetables, chicken curry, shop bought samosas and rice. Don't know about lunch.

Glad some people have joined me.
How are you all doing.
