Whichcatthatcat · 23/01/2022 10:09

Please help me. I've done this diet before, lost a stone or so but gradually put most of it back on.

I'm starting today and need company/ motivation etc.

Anyone want to join me?

Hallelujah 1.3 lbs off last week. Glad I've got the ball rolling again.

Whichcatthatcat · 09/05/2022 12:54

Well done. I've not restarted, I need to get back I the right frame of mind. Perhaps next week.

Well done @Plump82

I have struggled over the weekend, I suspect due to having a couple of glasses of wine in the evenings. But I am back on it today. Just hit 16 hours.

dollface22 · 10/05/2022 14:44

Im Doing this wrong aren't I.
Doing the16:8 diet and im new to it and in my eating window 12-8pm I'm just stuffing my face! Blush
I've had today so far left over spaghetti(& cheese!) 2 cookies and some chocolate!
I plan on having a chicken salad for dinner later!

SergeiL · 10/05/2022 17:11

I am not sure what the rules are for normal 16:8 as I am also trying to do it low carb. Since midday I have had some homemade soup, a slice of cheese and a handful of nuts. I am genuinely not getting hungry during fasting so I assume this is ok but don’t really know the rules either!

Plump82 · 10/05/2022 20:44

I'm not sure what the rules are but it probably defeats the purpose of fasting if you're eating what you normally would, just in a set time?

I'm definitely going low cal but it's working for me and I've definitely noticed if I can get through the sugar cravings then I don't miss chocolate etc.

I've had a banana and peanuts butter, some lentil pasta with a chunky vegetable sauce and feta cubes and I'm just about to have a cup of tea and a protein yogurt which I always end the day with.

dollface22 · 11/05/2022 08:16

Thanks for the reply. I had a word with myself and I'm very rule driven 🙈 so I'm goin to read up on it and go from there! Still on the 16/8 ! Good luck everyone x

Whichcatthatcat · 11/05/2022 08:29

I'm still not doing this. But maintaining weight rather than putting it on, so that's not too bad.

But if I keep posting and reading here I'll be ready to start again soon, I hope.

You will! At least you're maintaining so that when and if you pick it back up you won't have any set back. It took me a good 3 weeks to get back into the mind set.

Rodedooda · 12/05/2022 08:38

I suspect my calories are reduced naturally as my appetite has regulated somewhat with the fasting. I try and limit most days to a 4/5 hour eating window, and I eat as much as I feel I need until I feel full.

I'm on the countdown to summer holidays so would like to lose 3/4 stone - hopefully on track as I'm fairly steady with the pound a week average at the moment. I just need to tidy up the occasional slips into long eating windows.

What I'm really excited for is having a wardrobe purge this weekend of too baggy clothes. I've never felt confident to do that before but I'm very optimistic that I'll be able to keep going with this as a way of life!

It's great getting rid of clothes that are too big. I've had to buy some new stuff in a size 16. I honestly don't remember the last time I was this size on clothes.

Lynnthesearesexnotgenderpeople · 12/05/2022 17:24

Yes, the main difference I have noticed is my appetite is less. Normally when I get home from work I am starving and eat loads before I even start making dinner. The last few days I have got home and a cup of tea has been all I have needed! I must be saving quite a lot of calories that way! And at work if there are cakes I usually eat loads but today I could take it or leave it and just had a tiny bit....it's kind of weird!

Whichcatthatcat · 14/05/2022 12:29

I managed 16hr 42 mins today :)

Hopefully I can do it again and get back on track

Well done @Whichcatthatcat

Whichcatthatcat · 14/05/2022 22:10

Just having a bowl of cereal for dinner after finally getting ds to bed. So I'm not going to manage 16 hours, unless I don't eat till 2.15 tomorrow. Not sure I can wait that late.

Hi all just restarting this WOE as I know it works for me and once the initial week or so is over I will feel better and have more energy. But it's the starting that feels hard - any tips for overcoming the initial headache, hunger pangs and brain fog? I find when my blood sugar drops I go all vague and useless. I need to lose around 3st but even half a stone would make a decent difference at the moment.

Plump82 · 16/05/2022 15:53

0.8lbs on last week. Whoops! I'll blame it on the Burger King and Snickers I ate on Friday.

Luckily I have no plans this week or weekend so I'm hoping for a decent loss next week.

Got the steppers exercise machine out and jumped on that after work as it's just too miserable to go a walk today.

Rodedooda · 19/05/2022 09:59

I've been quite disciplined last week or so and scales are moving 0.9kg down from this time last week. I know it'll bounce back a little but it's quite encouraging!

Doing lots of walking and twice weekly gym class with 19:5 (roughly, I always aim for 18 hours of fasting)

19 pounds down since I started fasting late January, so not fast, but steady.

Whichcatthatcat · 25/05/2022 07:07

Hi, how's everyone doing?

I suddenly felt like starting again, after eating 5 chocolate digestives yesterday!!!

So I'm on my first fast for weeks, hope I manage it.

Plump82 · 26/05/2022 17:04

I managed to lose 2.4lbs last week. Hoping for similar this week. My best target is another 2 stone for September.

Whichcatthatcat · 26/05/2022 21:02

Well done. :)

I've lost 2 stone in 2 years. Not exactly impressive, but I'm keeping it off long term, so I'm pleased about that.

My bmi has gone from.43.4 to 38.1.

Rodedooda · 27/05/2022 09:10

Well done for getting back on it!

I'm still averaging about a pound or so a week. I weigh most mornings and it can be really changeable day to day, but I'm using happy scale which stops the disappointments on bad days. I also find that getting in a decent step count really shifts the next days number. I had less than 5 stone to lose, more like 3 but would've been happy enough with 2 and its such a good feeling to be nearly at that 2 stone loss, and happy to continue indefinitely with some form of fasting.

I'm moving more towards a one meal a day, but some days I'm genuinely really hungry so I just eat, and don't feel like I've ruined the whole plan. I only wish I'd tried this years ago.

Some days I've got to early evening and I think I could manage a 36 hour fast but have been to scared to take that leap. I thought people who did that sort of thing were mad, but it's remarkable how your body adapts.

Plump82 · 30/05/2022 18:40

Argh, 1.7 lbs on. I knew I didn't have a great week but really hoped I'd just stay the same. I was really hungry today but I've just had my tea and hope it keeps me going. Feel like I could eat a 2nd bowl!! I have been eating too many carbs so I know that's got to stop.

How's everyone else doing?

@rodedooda I find I'm going that way as well with one meal a day and when I'm past the hungry stage I find it not too difficult.

Rodedooda · 05/06/2022 21:02

Yikes! After a wee break away with wine and all the food, Happy Scale app has blown a gasket.

Timer started now, going to aim for 14 hours!

Ricardothesnowman · 05/06/2022 23:15

Rodedooda good luck. I put on this week, first time for ages. But I've not been fasting, and eating rather a lot of ice cream and meals out.

So starting again tonight.
