End of FD and the kitchen closes on 454. Back at it tomorrow.

Well done all the Monday fasters.

Tricks to cope with the evening

  • brush your teeth after supper
  • drink plenty of water
  • if needs be have a stash of zero calorie herbal teas to stay warm and hydrated
but it does get easier when you train your brain to not expect evening snacks not having snack foods in the house is the magic key

Arrghh! I wrote a whole long post last Friday but it looks like it vanished into a puff of smoke rather than appearing on here Sad No great loss I suppose Grin

Welcome @JudyGemstone & @Humphriescushion

@harriethoyle I’ve been giggling at snaccident all week - thank you for that! I think it was me who only had one square of chocolate: it’s cos I buy bars of Godiva 90% cocoa solids for my FD treat. One or two squares of that totally hits the spot and doesn’t deliver too many calories.

@ginsparkles how’s your dad doing now?

@KylieKoKo love that NSV!

@CoffeeRequiredNow I find that when I’m crazy busy at work & juggling all the family stuff (like now...sigh...) I swing between two extremes of either not eating at all, even on NFDs, or everything going out of the window altogether. I do find that the risk of OMAD is that I can end up eating too big a meal at the end of the day - even if my total calorie intake stays below TDEE it pushes my mental perception of what a normal meal looks like out of shape, and not in a good way.

I realised that I had hit a bit of a FD meal rut. Because I tend to eat quite late in the evening after I’ve finished work, done an hour of bodypump & spent time chatting to the kids, it can be 9-9.30p before I finally eat. And by that point I’m too tired & hungry to be creative so it’s generally the same 3 or 4 meals each time. And then because I’m not looking forward to the food, I’m more likely to snack or eat something less FD-friendly.

So today I took pre-emptive steps and half prepped an Ottlolenghi veggie dish between calls earlier in the day, & added in a couple of scrambled eggs (thanks for the reminder about protein @ListeningQuietly!) Success!

Sorry this has turned into such a long update. Late night, post FD ramblings Blush. Right, off to bed!

ginsparkles · 26/01/2021 08:02

@Fillybuster thank you for asking. He is still the same. In hospital waiting for news on what the best course of action is from here.

Woken up for the second time after a FD with a blinding headache. Thought last week was hormonal but I'm wondering if it's Fd related instead. I suspect I'm not drinking enough of Fd's so will take plenty of fluid with me today and a small snack kind of lunch.

harriethoyle · 26/01/2021 08:04

An almost perfect 651 yesterday for b2b 1... bring on b2b 2 today!

moonlight1705 · 26/01/2021 09:31

Morning, am on a FD today although we had the news that nursery has closed for the week due to covid cases in the older group. I've taken the day off work to look after DD and then DH and I are taking it in turns for the rest of the week.

I'm hoping I'll be too busy to think of food although already have my shakshuka made for lunch.

KylieKoKo · 26/01/2021 10:19

Does anyone else sometimeswake up the day after a fast day feeling hungover? I felt like I'd drank a bottle of wine last night when I woke up. Coffee and egg on toast has sorted it.

harriethoyle · 26/01/2021 10:59

No @KylieKoKo but I sometimes get a terrible headache which I assume is down to dehydration...

ListeningQuietly · 26/01/2021 11:25

Kylie & gin
Yup, the headaches are dehydration.
Have a pint of water about half an hour before you go to bed
and keep a glass of water by the bed so that if you rouse in the night you can have a drink.

Hi everyone, hope you don’t mind me
Joining! I had a lot of success with 5/2 about 5-6 years ago and lost nearly 4 stone. Since then life and eating has happened and I’ve put on 7 stone. Yes. 7 stone. Absolutely shocking. Just been looking back at photos from last year and even though I’m smiling in them in every single one I felt hideous. I’m sick of not being able to wear anything and getting out of breath just climbing the stairs and I can barely
Get an 18 on so that’s it. I’ve tried fad diets since (like milkshakes which I lost a stone and half then put 2 stone back on 😭) so I’m
Sticking with this now. Last time I did so so well but let it slip and everything spiralled. SO, my starting weight is 17stone 1lb, my goal weight is 10stone but my first aim is 13 stone.

KylieKoKo · 26/01/2021 11:34

It's annoying! I drank loads of water and had to get up to per in the middle of the night but then woke up dehydrated! It seems unfair.

KylieKoKo · 26/01/2021 11:34

Per should say pee

KylieKoKo · 26/01/2021 11:35

Welcome @JoanneCofton

ListeningQuietly · 26/01/2021 11:45

Welcome back Joanne
Aim for no more than 2lb loss a week
try a mixture of 16:8 and 5:2
and you will probably need to do strict MFP for the first few weeks to remind yourself the amount of food your body really needs
but
slow and steady will get the right results

Hi everyone. I had my FD yesterday, im just into my second week and I've noticed im getting headaches, especially on the fasting days. I do drink a lot of water so i am staying hydrating. Im wondering if it might be sugar withdrawal? I still haven't weighed myself and will wait another couple of weeks, if my clothes feel loser. If not, ill wait a bit longer.

ListeningQuietly · 26/01/2021 14:36

lilice
Dehydration is the most likely
rather than sipping every now and then, drink a whole pint of water before each meal time (even if its one you are skipping)

Also, keep your protein levels up to give yourself energy

ginsparkles · 26/01/2021 15:39

Ahhh the pint of water thing is interesting. I'm not good at drinking water. So I will definitely try this more.

I find the headaches much worse on day two of B2B so today I have opted for 3 small meals instead of OMAD and do actually feel a bit better for it. Will be interesting to see if the scales judge me for my change!! Just had a late lunch or ryvita with Philly lightest and Parma ham.

Will have Gong bao chicken for dinner tonight. DH will have rice with his. Kitchen should close on 624 if I don't pick at anything between now and dinner!!

inthethickofit19 · 26/01/2021 20:32

Hi all

So rude to just jump in like this

Anyone just have a shake and v small meal on their FD's?

My Protein berry Shake (includes oats, flax seed too) comes to about 300 cals so another 200 cals for food.

ListeningQuietly · 26/01/2021 20:36

)))))))))) Shakes (((((((((((((((((((

For those getting headaches: as well as dehydration it can also be low sodium intake. I find a spoon of marmite (if you can cope with that) makes a big difference. Or a mug of miso.

Welcome @JoanneCofton 😀

JudyGemstone · 26/01/2021 21:38

I have Huel shakes, the gluten free version. a regular one with 2 scoops is 400 calories but is pretty filling so I have half at lunch and the rest at dinner.

I cba pissing about trying to make v low calorie meals. My partner is the cook in my house.

harriethoyle · 26/01/2021 21:57

Kitchen closing on 663 so an almost textbook 1314 for my b2b days! No scales here so I'll have to rely on feeling slinky tomorrow... @ginsparkles and @moonlight1705 how did you both get on with your FDs?

ginsparkles · 26/01/2021 22:04

Well done @harriethoyle !

Finished on approx 682. So that gives me 1,136 across the two days. Scales this morning were 1lb less than same time last week so if that reflects in tomorrow's weigh in I'll be happy.

Just necked some very weak squash (can't drink water!) and am off to sleep.

moonlight1705 · 26/01/2021 22:21

Well done @harriethoyle and @ginsparkles

My day ended on 684, would have been lower but DD left a bit of her chicken noodle soup and I accidentally scoffed the rest. Blush It cannot have been more than 50 calories worth but has obviously put me up a bit today.

inthethickofit19 · 26/01/2021 22:44

@JudyGemstone is that on Fast days?
