Thinks @ListeningQuietly He has a specialist coming to see him on Monday. So hoping for the best while preparing for the worse. Wine is helping for now ....

Lilice · 23/01/2021 23:45

@ginsparkles hope your dad is okay.

That's a lovely dress @missfliss
Im still living in maternity leggings most days 😱 but that motivates me to stick to the diet, i cant wait to wear my skinny jeans again

ListeningQuietly · 24/01/2021 13:08

We had 3 snowflakes, very disappointed

Fast day tomorrow as well 😁

KylieKoKo · 24/01/2021 23:45

Loads of snow here earlier Grin

I'm also fasting tomorrow. Although I was meant to pick up food today but was playing in the snow so I'll have to go in my lunch break tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to resist the temptation of the crisp aisle ...

Hello all and thanks for all the help so far.

Will be going for my first fast day today. Have not really planned what i will eat since still getting used to calorie counting, so i may see if there is anything ready made in the supermarket so i know exactly what i am doing. If not i will stick to salmon and vegetables today. Will have a hard boiled egg as someone upthread suggested if i need it. Later evening is often when i struggle.

So have been using mfp and calorie counting to cut down and get used go it. Have been shocked by how little it is and i was eating lots of veg and fairly healthy food. I was erring on the side of caution though.

The tdee also shocked me! Said 1438 to maintain where i am and 1350 at goal weight. I always thought women could eat around 1800 - 2000. 1400 is so little Shock. I suppose this is why i am overweight! I did put in sedentary because i dont exercise as much as normal and also because i dont walk as much as would like - (old, lazy dog) and did not want to overestimate this, however the number did not change significantly when i changed this.

Also, if i were trying for 16:8 could i have a few cups of coffee with skimmed milk in the morning? Not sure i can survive without this.

Once again thank you for all your help and information, it really has helped me and for taking the time. Happy fast day.

ginsparkles · 25/01/2021 08:05

Hi all,

Taken the weekend to get my head in a positive space, which resulted in the ever silly comfort eating. Not expecting a loss this week but determined to have two good fasts to at least stem the damage and have given myself a good talking to. With luck we have a long journey with dad and I can't comfort eat my way through it so sensible head on. Dads situation is that it's a brain tumour, I don't know enough about them to know the likely prognosis and I'm doing my best to avoid Dr Google!

So back to today and it's day 1 of B2B. Have 2 plums in my bag for if I need a lift during the day, a flask of warm ribena and stuffed mushrooms for tea tonight.

Good luck @Humphriescushion and all the other fasters! @harriethoyle are you B2B with me this week?!

harriethoyle · 25/01/2021 08:38

I am @ginsparkles - no idea what I'm having though which is always dangerous 😬 probably fish cakes tonight... busy with work this week so should be ok

WhingingGiraffe · 25/01/2021 09:35

Hi all, back to the 5:2 game after gaining 6kg in multiple lockdowns. Enough is enough! Need to shift this 6kg, maybe a bit more in time to come out of isolation!

FD today, just black coffee and water until dinner.

Good luck fasters!

KnobJockey · 25/01/2021 10:04

Fast day today anyone joining me?

Currently sipping on a glass of hot water and fresh lime, surprised and happy by how much I'm enjoying it. Omelette for tea tonight, I'll add wedges for everyone else I think, extra veg for me.

ListeningQuietly · 25/01/2021 10:22

@ginsparkles
I have PM you a link about Brain Cancer that is trustworthy.

@Humphriescushion
Ah yes, the famous 1800 calories
which is in fact MUCH TOO MUCH for many women.
It was based on a 5'5" lady in her 30's before modern appliances.

TDEE drops with height and with age.
My sedentary TDEE is under 1500 .....
BUT
Once you realise it, then managing weight becomes much simpler

and remember that you will not starve
because if you are a stone overweight, that is 10,000 calories of reserves resting on your hips WinkGrin

@ListeningQuietly ... Thank you for the link. Will study at a time when I feel brave and its quiet.

Humphriescushion · 25/01/2021 10:54

Wow thanks @ listening, i had no idea was hoping the calculator was wrong - well years of extra calorieies are now sitting nicely around my thighs Grin. Thank goodness for this thread!

KylieKoKo · 25/01/2021 14:17

I have a kind of NSV to report.

DSD was going through her photos and found one of me that she took at my highest weight and I look enormous.

I was finding it hard to see a difference in myself even though a few others had commented but seeing the old photo has certainly shown me.

KnobJockey · 25/01/2021 15:30

@KylieKoKo well done!

KylieKoKo · 25/01/2021 15:39

Thanks @KnobJockey

I'm still over what I should be but at least I've made some progress.

ListeningQuietly · 25/01/2021 15:54

Nice one Kylie
Its the little changes that make the most difference - a bit of definition around the chin or collar bone, a crease gone here or there.

So first fast day. I will list what i ate in case i am not doing it correctly.

3 cups of coffee with skimmed milk - says 5 calories each ( seems low?)
Portion of bbc good food recipe for curry cod. Says around 300 calories
Cracked and had a hot chocolate drink ( teaspoon of drinking chocolate, skimmed milk as coffee/water) mfp says 165 calories, ( seems high to me , maybe they think it is all milk whereas i only have a big splash)
Total 481 calories
Feel free to tell me if i am doing anything wrong.
Early night!

KylieKoKo · 25/01/2021 18:52

@Humphriescushion how do you feel on that? I think that's the best guide to see if you're doing it right.

Cod is good as it's very low cal and has lots of protein.

Don't beat yourself up about the hot chocolate. You stayed under 500 cals, that's the main thing.

If you want to track calories in milk accurately then you need to measure it really.

Humphriescushion · 25/01/2021 19:00

Thanks @ kylie, yes i meant to measure the milk but forgot, will do so the next fast day. I feel ok, and i enjoyed the cod recipe so that was nice, but now as normal i feel hungry. The evenings are always the worse for me. Will be fine today since it is the first one, but may need to consider how to feel fuller in the evening - maybe eating later?

KylieKoKo · 25/01/2021 19:07

I'm the same. I'm always hungry in the evening. I tend to not eat until I have to (I've had a miso soup and a slice of ham so far) and then have most of my calories as an evening meal then a boiled egg later on in the evening.
