Humphries
Definitely do not eat back exercise calories

  • you will have burned less than you think
  • you will eat more than you think.
Exercise raises your TDEE but not by much (my sedentary TDEE is 1500, my gym rat TDEE is 1950 - so less than a cappuccino and a biscuit!!)

Lilice
If I remember correctly, the FD level for those who are breastfeeding is 800 rather than 500
even at the tail end of it because your body is having to maintain that whole system
AND if you are BF you are not getting the proper sleep you need.

My best suggestion for feeling flabby is exercise - yoga, pilates, the shred, BodyBalance - stuff that really works your postural muscles

You don't lose weight, but you look like you have Wink

Thanks, @ kylie, i agree not fasting on exercise days and dont do any on my fast days. Only doing once a week on average atm, is a pain but there it is!
tUnfortunately for me, my tdee at happy weight is only 1340 and 1400 as i am, not a huge amount of difference. I dont stick to 1200 on every non fast day. I am also just getting to grips with calorie counting so am not sure i am not overcounting and need to reeducate myself on what i am eating calories etc so is important for me that i count things even on days when i am not fasting. Waiting to see what works for me weight wise and calorie wise. Will weigh tomorrow as usual and see if my plan is workingl hope so because seems doable!

Humphriescushion · 11/02/2021 11:50

Just saw your post @ listening, will not eat them tempting though they are! Nice to look at them though, even though i dont really believe them.

KylieKoKo · 11/02/2021 11:53

Hi @Humphriescushion I exercise on fast days but I eat more than you on non fast days so I don't find it too hard.

I found that lifting weights has really toned me up and I have lost inches and can fit into smaller clothes since starting. This was before I was dieting and my scale weight stayed the same.

Humphriescushion · 11/02/2021 12:01

I usually do more @ kylie but i play a sport similar to tennis and we have a curfew at 6pm so my normal games are not possible and i really miss them. I can play on the weekend though. I know what you mean about weights though they can have a huge affect.

Benjispruce2 · 11/02/2021 12:43

FD today and got to 12.15 on black coffee and water. Just had a crunchy salad with a tiny bit of low cal dressing. Not sure what I’ll eat tonight. Hot drinks are my friend. I’m only doing walking and a few toning exercises as I find anything more makes me hungry. I ignore the exercise calories too.

Benjispruce2 · 11/02/2021 12:47

I’m with you @Humphriescushion in that I need to reacquaint myself with calories and portions so logging every day is helping me.

harriethoyle · 11/02/2021 12:50

Funnily enough @KylieKoKo I am "mindfully" contemplating a dominos for my birthday meal next month... 😂

ListeningQuietly · 11/02/2021 13:05

My exercise of choice is swimming in the outdoor pool at my gym.
I miss it so so much

Got my Mediterranean fish stew on the hob. Will have a small amount of cous cous with it and be on 463.

Benjispruce2 · 11/02/2021 17:40

Quick question. On mfp every day I go way over my recommended Vit a & c. Seems strange as I thought plenty of veg and fruit was a good thing. I’m way over today too even on a fast day! Can anyone shed any light?

ListeningQuietly · 11/02/2021 18:07

Benji
Could you pop up a menu plan for us to look at?
C is not an issue as you just excrete the excess
A is the possible problem as excess can be retained and build up

Ok so today I had a crunchy salad of lettuce, 1 carrot, 3 cherry tomatoes and cucumber.
Tonight I’ve had fish stew- haddock, passata, peppers, onion, herbs, garlic

Benjispruce2 · 11/02/2021 18:38

Yesterday I had porridge, hummus with rye bread with 3 tomatoes and a banana and halloumi and red onion omelette with oven chips and beans.

ListeningQuietly · 11/02/2021 18:59

Those sound absolutely fine.
Sounds like MFP is having a glitch.
What are you drinking during the day ?

OP posts:
Benjispruce2 · 11/02/2021 19:03

Yes I’m thinking the same or is it just a minimum target?

I drink tea first thing plus one after work, lots of water in the day and on fast days some black coffee when needed.

ListeningQuietly · 11/02/2021 19:10

Benji
Pretty sure the MFP number is the RDA
which is the minimum to stay healthy
and if you have a massive salad habit, easy to exceed
Check here if any concerns

I do have a massive salad habit!Grin Thanks for your help.

KobaniDaughters · 11/02/2021 19:41

Loving the mindful pizza eating Grin but then that’s the point right, isn’t it 20% treat yourself and eat for enjoyment over all else or something?

When I was properly into 5:2 I built up exercise on FD and was also training for a mega bike ride and was able to bike up to 50miles on a FD before eating

Not quite there anymore!!!

Humphriescushion · 12/02/2021 06:30

Got on scales, 0.7 of a kilo down, so very pleased, especially since found this week much easier, enjoyed if that is the right word my fast days, and ate more on my non fast days. Around 4 kilos off since i started, which has made a huge difference to me being fairly short. I am enjoying cooking different things since my repertoire had definitely got into a rut.
It feel sustainable in the longer term. Thanks a million to the posters on this thread for the help and advice.

Benjispruce2 · 12/02/2021 06:50

Whoop whoop @Humphriescushion! Can I join you in celebrating a SV of 4lb off this week??!!!! 2lb after 1st FD and another 2lb off after yesterday. Plus, 1inch off my waist. I know it will slow and the weekend is coming but this has made me determined not to cut loose this weekend. NFD but skinny happy TDEE. Grin Delighted!

Humphriescushion · 12/02/2021 07:16

Oh well done@ benji , 4lb is amazing and an inch off your waist! It does help to motivate on the weekend doesnt it, and keep on the straight and narrow. I am finding that just logging and checking what i am eating is very useful and showing me how many calories are in things!. I will measure my waist later as well since i found a starting waist measurement this morning.

Benjispruce2 · 12/02/2021 07:23

It sure does. How long have you been doing5:2 to lose 4K?

Humphriescushion · 12/02/2021 07:39

I started early January but on slimming world but with no success at all. Think i have been three weeks now on 5:2. Started at 65.3 ( and that was weighing after nearly week of slimming world so sure it was higher.). Today i am 61.9 (am calling it 4 kgs to motivate myself - is nearer to three really!)
