Thanks for the plateau idea. I didn't think I'd reach that so early on.
Today I went for an hours walk and treated my self to an apple and some almond butter when I got back.
Tonight is a big fat juicy steak and my special salad with herbs, nuts and pomegranate seeds. So I'll see what the scales say tomorrow.
Ive started to 16:8 so perhaps that may help.
It's so frustrating when I have such a lot to lose :(

PutTheChocEggDown · 28/04/2018 19:17

That's an amazing loss Very hope you are proud of yourself!

Funny day out and about and ate lots of lush food at lunch but all plant based and none of the big 5 baddies either. Need to get some exercise in too and will have a small omelette for dinner. My naughty moment was a choc soy drink. Well into heavy TOTM now so just hoping for a flatline on my weight graph for next few days.

veryveryquietly · 28/04/2018 21:16

Thanks all, the support here has been so crucial for this! I just feel so much better. I just feel so much better: I sleep better, my skin has cleared up, and I have tons more energy.

Quite extravagant day today (1096 cals oh my) but did manage to keep carbs relatively low (47 gr) and fully BSD compliant (aside from the extra calories!). Going to tighten up a little this week though, and schedule is a little better so will be able to make it to the gym more frequently. Knock on wood.

veryveryquietly · 28/04/2018 21:17

Yikes sorry for repetition in post!

yumyumpoppycat · 28/04/2018 23:06

Well done on the relaxed but on plan Saturdays everyone!

Grim it is disappointing on such low cals that the weight doesn't continue to zoom off isn't it, it does seem like most people have a stay the same week but then things pick up a bit.

Very - you are doing brilliantly Star

I tried on 8 swimming costumes today, if anyone needs putting back on track this depressing shopping activity will do the job. Urgh. Those all angle mirrors! At least it looks as though Next costumes might be an option as there was one that was reasonably flattering and they come up bigger than most places by a size I reckon which is better for my ego! Bear you were right about the tummy control but I think I need it Grin

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/04/2018 08:20

I would love to say I’d had a relaxed but on plan Saturday, which I suppose technically I have but I ate about a million calories last night (2nd night on the trot!) so that does not apply to me. All on plan, yada yada, but just far far too much.

2 things I notice when I do this; 1) I stop counting/writing down/measuring and 2) I stop all the other healthy habits like drinking water during the day and not snacking. So I’ve basically had 2 days of not being on plan even though a snapshot of my food would suggest I had been.

Always looking forwards though: run today (I’m working on my speed today so a shorter run, on flat, with speed intervals), chicken with cauliflower cheese for dinner tonight, and probably salad for lunch. Importantly though, I’ve got to keep out of the fridge - I do blame Dh at weekends, he fills the house with peanuts and pork pies and little cheeses and they all add up don’t they?

Morning!

It must be hard to keep going on this. I'm a week in and already fantasising about chips and booze.

Hoped to be another lb down this morning but nope. TOTM is imminent though. Was just shy of 1000 cals again. Must try harder.

If I am still on 7lb lost tomorrow morning then I will be thrilled, but of course 8 would be even better. Expecting to now move to a much slower loss as my body loves this particular weight and it's always a complete slog to get past it.

Have to get some work done today then take DD to the shops, which will involve Costa.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/04/2018 09:00

Primal I agree about the body having a weight it loves- mine is about 11.5 and it’s taken me ages to get beneath that, and stay there comfortably. I also wonder if that’s why, since I have gone beneath it, my appetite seems to have increased so I am finding I’m just grazing a lot. I’m sure it’s my body still trying to drag me back up to that weight. Maybe it’s all just psychology? I don’t know- but over the years it’s always been around that weight I’ve struggled. It’s also strangely the exact weight that makes me ‘normal’ not ‘overweight’ which again could be just coincidence but maybe somewhere there might be some research in it and why it happens.

800 cals is very low, how on earth does anyone maintain that, what do you eat? Could someone give me an example of a days meals please?

PhyllisWig · 29/04/2018 09:17

Set point weight is definitely a thing. Mine is 10 12 which is about 10lbs overweight. I was that weight for years from 15 to my mid20s when I did the move in with boyfriend, eat crap cycle. I lost weight but couldn't get below that. Piled weight on in my 30s mostly due to fertility issues, twins and mh issues then lost 4 stone again once I hit 40. I found it reasonably easy to get to......10 12!

Only when I did bsd did I move below that weight but when I did I found it ok to maintain in the low 10s.

When I put it back on around Christmas I bobbed around 10 12 again for a month or two until I piled on another half a stone.

This cycle of bsd was a chance for me to break the bingeing/comfort eating cycle I got into so once I move into maintenance, if I end at 10 12 again but am healthy, active etc, that's ok with me. I have good tits at that weight ;)

PhyllisWig · 29/04/2018 09:26

Cherry tree, here we go

Breakfast 2 boiled eggs if working in the office. If at home I usually skip it.

Lunch: soup, tuna salad, omlette with mushrooms, small bit of cheese, salad or greens on the side. Pret and itsu have good options as do M&S if out and about.

Dinner a protein source and 2/3 veg. I don't eat meat so this is fish or tofu usually. Sometimes veggie sausages or similar but only once a week. Stir fry's, curries etc fit into the protein plus veg model quite nicely.

Pudding fruit (berries really) and either a dollop of cream or Greek yoghurt.

3/4 cups of tea with milk (factor this in every day to my calories). Peppermint tea/water all other times.

I don't snack really.

Portions are small and I weight out the higher cal foods.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/04/2018 09:30

That’s really interesting Phyllis, thanks!

Cherry 800 cals seems low but it’s only for 8 weeks, or in several^^ 8 week bursts with breaks between. I did a proper round of 800 calorie day’s but now I don’t and I still lose weight. Typical day for me would probably be:
A shake made with almond milk, berries, peanut butter, maca - 200 cals
Evening meal of meat and veg (so stir fry, or steak and salad, or chilli etc) usually around 350-400 cals,

I also have Greek yogurt some days, milk in coffee, and occasional extras, and allow more calories at the weekends for wine! A usual day for me really is that, plus an additional meal which is usually around 200 calories (cheese and salad, or ham and salad). The key is to eat more fat, and avoid things like bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and of course, sugar.
It’s definitely worth reading the book if you’re interested as it’s very informative about the science behind the plan, and the different options.

OP posts:
PutTheChocEggDown · 29/04/2018 09:51

Cherry I agree that reading the book is helpful - the 800 cal diet isn't the only way, it's the fastest. I haven't managed a day under 900 cals in first week but have still lost 6.5lbs AND it's my heaviest TOTM.

It was only 0.5lbs off this morning but I'm amazed to have lost anything! This was always my heavy, depressing week back in the days of SW / WW when standing on the scales of shame.

So glad to have this thread though - much better than having to sit through a group.

Hungry this morning but going to delay food until 11ish. Trying to stay roughly on eating schedule over the weekend (even if the cals have gone off piste).

Boopear · 29/04/2018 09:52

Quick question - especially to @thenewaveragebear1983 as you run .. I am a week in and doing well, using MyFitnessPal to log food. However I also do a lot of exercise - running, cycling, weights etc that I log in Mapmyrun/Fitbit. MyFitnessPal automatically adjusts my calorie / nutrient targets accordingly - do you ‘use’ (eat Smile )these extra calories or not?

houseRefurb · 29/04/2018 10:02

Boopear, you can disable the exercise calories addition, its in the "goals" section, "Exercise calories".

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/04/2018 10:03

Boo at first I didn’t, but once I actually lost some weight, and improved my performance etc (as I started from literally zero exercise)- I found I just couldn’t do it. I don’t technically eat the calories back, as in, I don’t have an extra 600 if I run 10k, but I have found a rhythm of just having more each day, even on rest days. I have about 1100 a day average, slightly more at weekends, a few really good days during the week where I aim for 800 (but it’s usually 900 ish)

I always run before eating, and if I’m planning a long run I use soluble isotonic tablets (sugar free ones) which have helped my performance no end.

It’s so hard to know what to suggest really, I just couldn’t do 800 calorie days and keep up the exercise. I am enjoying running so much now that I don’t want to limit what I can do. My Fitbit claims that I am using around 2700 a day average calories, but I think this is inaccurate- but I suppose I am getting around half that averaged out (taking into account those days when I am less than angelic!) so it seems to be working out.

I wish wish I’d done a body fat percentage when I started because I reckon I have reduced my fat % and increased my muscle mass quite substantially which I hadn’t anticipated.

DandelionAndBedrock · 29/04/2018 11:04

I'm down another 2.5lbs this week, which I'm pretty pleased with since it's TOTM. I'm following the meal plans online and quite a few of them are over 800 calories, including 2 days this week at over 900 which has surprised me.

I'm feeling so much more energetic. Down 1.1stone (and a bit) since starting 2 weeks ago.

PrimalLass · 29/04/2018 11:25

Yes my set weight is 11st4. 20 years of struggling to get below that. This time I will.

PrimalLass · 29/04/2018 11:28

That's brilliant - well done.

PutTheChocEggDown · 29/04/2018 12:48

Well done Dandelion!

I had ryvita this morning with a boiled egg. Unfortunately it has awakened the hunger beast. Thought they would be ok as they are the dark rye ones and put some butter on.

PutTheChocEggDown · 29/04/2018 13:38

I have filled in MFP up until Tues night so I know what I need to shop for this week. I would like to lose another 4lbs this week if possible.

Bear that's a good tip about the body fat %. Going to start logging that from tomorrow. I have been walking loads so will be building up muscle. I've even felt like running a couple of times because I'm full of energy after my evening meal. Once I get below the next stone I will look at getting a proper sports bra and thinking about some jogging.

Does courgetti and pesto make a decent quick meal? Maybe with an egg on the side and a few walnuts on top? Trying to plan some emergency meals!

thereinmadnesslies · 29/04/2018 13:52

I’m on day 12 and 8.5lb down.

I agree about the set point weight, I can almost predict where I will plateau. Sadly it’s still a long way away ...

PhyllisWig · 29/04/2018 17:01

Choc I think you may miss protein so definitely yes to the walnuts.

I went to my mum and dads for lunch. Luckily they are total fish fiends so daddy did me foiled baked plaice with a bit of garlic butter, parsley and lemon plus 3 kinds of green veggies. It was proper lush!

The buggers had a full on roast including stuffing and tortured with sticky toffee pud and custard but I wasn't too tempted. Well, a bit by the pud so mum froze a portion for me for next time we go over.

I've meal planned for the week as I'm trying to run down the freezer. Lots of fish and veggies.

PhyllisWig · 29/04/2018 17:02

Tortured should have said yorkies. Irony.

PutTheChocEggDown · 29/04/2018 17:58

Early meal here. A Quorn tikka ready meal, asparagus and cauliflower broccoli cheese. Disgraced myself hoovering down 3 pieces of DH's salt n chilli chicken so I quick added it to MFP at 150 cals. I'm vegetarian but get occasional mad cravings for 'junk' meat. No desire whatsoever for real meat just processed crap meat. So I guess I'm vegetarian 99% and 1% flexitarian Blush
