I have been watching a few of JO new 5 ingredients on sky+. But I haven't seen anything low carb particularly.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/09/2017 22:19

Maaaaan, I Gotta stop watching bake off. Had a great day today. Then bake off came on, coincided with Dh taking dd to buy a calculator at tesco and coming back with reduced price Oreo doughnuts, so in a moment of madness I ate one. And then promptly ate another one. And doubled my daily calorie intake. I will forgive myself as I came on today and it always makes me a bit carb-tastic, but even so.

I brought the blood sugar diet cook book. I've done an online shop for next Tuesday. So I'll I'll be good to go from Wednesday.

Oblomov17 · 27/09/2017 06:31

Well done Ramsey. 1/2 a stone is significant.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/09/2017 06:58

Scales didn't punish me too severely for my Oreo moment....... Back on it today. I will be baking and icing a fire engine birthday cake for ds this evening, so that could end badly, although I have already bought some minty chewing gum to chew while I do it so I'm not tempted by all the sugary deliciousness!

Today: taking ds to baby trampolining place, which should be fun and clock up a few steps. Lunch will be left over spicy chicken that Dh didn't have last night (wimp!) and salad, and dinner will be broccoli, cauli and bacon bake. I need to ensure I drink enough today, I think that's why I'm struggling in the afternoons.

Have a good day everyone!

Oh blimey - we're being stalked! It was very nice really (or I wouldn't have eaten the whole tub) but I think Stevia does leave an aftertaste. Maybe I'll give the vanilla flavour a go

NewAverage - I do have more to lose so in retrospect, I think I really need to be strict. Or I'm just going to maintain/go down so slowly I'll lose momentum

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/09/2017 10:30

Jiggly i think there is argument to say a short break from 800 calories has benefits in the long term, although some long termers do find the second round harder once we break momentum. It's quite a tough call. Looking back I wish I'd done another 8 straight on the back of the first because I was so dedicated in my first round and I've never managed to replicate it quite as successfully.

Well done Ramsey ! Half a stone is a great start.
Jiggly your ice cream stalker made me laugh. We all feel like tasty food is haunting us but your's has actually followed you to MN 👻 😀

Just joking Oppo- it was excellent customer service.
I wonder if I mention that I keep relapsing with Hotel Chocolat if they'll give us vouchers ....
Considering how often we all mention Jamie and Nigella etc, they should drop in too.
Bear good luck with the fire engine cake and happy birthday to baby bear.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/09/2017 14:23

Yes, it's actually quite incredible that they managed to find that one tiny comment on this thread. I wonder if it's someone's job to search sites like this and extinguish any fires.......??? I'd never heard of oppo before that anyway, but I know stevia is rank in large quantities (which is why the Coke 'natural' which is sweetened with stevia don't get me started only uses part stevia and the rest is good old sugar. I have often considered making my own ice cream with cream, fruit, maybe mascarpone, perhaps tiny bit of sweetener? Maybe for a special occasion as it would be mega calories!

Cake carved and stuck together and crumb coated. Only one teeny taste of buttercream for quality control purposes. Thought I would have more willpower during the day, which proved to be correct, and this evening I will do the fondant, which I have no desire to eat in its pure form.

I popped in day 1 of a 5:2 week yesterday to try to atone for bad week last week. Good grief I’d forgotten how hungry you get at the end of the day and how you feel deprived. Plus I woke with a horrible metallic taste in my mouth. Probably should have drank more water tbh.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/09/2017 21:41

Look away now, it's not low carb or sugar free!

bear your cake is amazing! I am in awe of your baking and icing skills.

SpaghettiAlphabetti · 28/09/2017 07:38

Wow! bear that is amazing! I do my DC's cakes and I'm told I'm good at it but your fire engine is so detailed. Love it!

Oblomov17 · 28/09/2017 07:48

Wow Bear it's amazing!! What job do you do again? Wink
You ARE Eric Lanlard. Aren't you? Hmm

Aw you're all too kind.....my daughter says it looks like Satan's Winnebago!

Had a glass of wine last night to celebrate doing 4 weeks without wine (go figure?) and have a stinking headache this morning. Possible from wine, or consumption of smarties (after using the red and yellows for my headlights!) I'm having one of those 'lose the plot' weeks, where I eat absolutely brilliantly all day and then suddenly find myself in the kitchen with chocolate round my mouth wondering what the hell happened. I think because this weekend has been mentally written off I'm just starting early, although I can still do well if I give myself a shake. For example, kids having pizzas tomorrow for ds's birthday, but i have already bought toppings and flat turkey steaks to make carb free ones, so there's no excuse really. Perhaps I'm just looking for excuses.....

APlaceOnTheCouch · 29/09/2017 13:20

I have lost 1lbs. I also have a stomach bug. I think these two things may be connected.

JigglyTuff · 29/09/2017 16:18

That's not true (although satan's Winnebago is genius).

I have put weight on. Am furious with myself. It's wine. When I drink wine, all my resolve goes out the window. So sober October it is (at least until I go on holiday!)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/09/2017 13:33

Hi, how is everyone? It's quiet in here recently, hope everyone is ok?

Dh just opened his Jamie O book and there are some delicious looking recipes that are easily bsd friendly, lots of lentil and bean recipes, a whole section on eggs. There's also quite a few that are tweakable to make them compatible. I'm definitely doing a few this week, menu planning tomorrow.

OP posts:
SpaghettiAlphabetti · 30/09/2017 17:54

DH is home from his long trip so we are off out for dinner and cocktails so whilst I'm very happy Michael Moseley will be ashamed of me.

In good news my dress fits nicely! I've written the evening off but have only eaten a tiny lunch as damage limitation. Going to be strict clubbing next week.

How was the birthday bear?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/09/2017 18:48

Aw little bear was thoroughly overwhelmed by his birthday, as often happens when you're 2. Dh's today, he was not so overwhelmed, although has had many more years to get used to it.

I'm strict clubbing next week too spaghetti, although it didn't seem to help last time! Although people keep telling me I look like I've lost weight I haven't , but maybe something's shrinking despite not showing on the scales.

We go out so rarely these days that I have bugger all to wear, feel all trussed up like a turkey in everything that's not jeans and converse, and ended up buying a top in tesco which is totally not me but will have to do because it's floaty enough to cover my stomach! Every time next week I am remotely tempted to eat crap I need to remember how I feel tonight.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/10/2017 09:35

Morning all. 1st October? How did that happen?????

Right. It appears that over the entire of September, despite being relatively good (at at times, excellent) I have lost a grand total of a measly 3 pounds in the entire month. Ok, so this weekend has probably added a bit of bloat, but still. Strict club must begin today for me. I'm going sober for October too, or at least limiting my alcohol consumption to high days and holidays. It's odd because although I haven't had the best month, I have in many ways had a great month, have exercised for the first time in ages, and stuck pretty well to the plan when I've been on it.

Hope everyone's ok?

OP posts:
SpaghettiAlphabetti · 01/10/2017 10:09

Oh bear 3lbs is frustrating. You deserved more than that. Focus on the exercise and the benefits for your health.

Would you be able to plan a night out with your DH for early November and plan something really nice to wear? You've lost loads of weight. I'd bet you'd rock a dress!

That said I'm no example at all. I looked nice when I went out last night and felt a bit better than I usually would. Unfortunately I got completely and utterly carried away and then we bumped into friends and went dancing. Got home at 2 and promptly threw up.

I'm supposed to be a grown up. I can't admit I was sick through alcohol in real life so this will have to be my confession.

DH is being very nice about it all because it's incredibly rare I get that out of control. In fact the last time was 5.5 years ago so I'm not going to be overly hard on myself. My punishment is feeling as rough as I do now.

On the plus side I can't face eating anything.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 01/10/2017 10:41

Spaghetti I am laughing at you drinking and dancing and being sick. Sorry! It's just so rare to have nights like that. I hope you have lots of water and painkillers and quiet today so you can recover.

bear I've just checked and I lost 2.2lbs in September so your 3lbs is better than me! I suppose if you think about it objectively 3lbs is still quite a lot eg if you think of that photo of fat that you posted before. It's interesting that people think you look thinner. I've had people commenting that I've lost weight too when I definitely haven't since the last time I met them. Maybe the exercise is toning us in a way that isn't measurable or weight-related.
