That's great herroyal you must be very relieved.

Just waiting for Dh to cook dinner, I'm blooming starving as all I've eaten today is slices of cheese and ham. We're having rib eye steaks and salad and hopefully a few halloumi fries. Still no wine, this is my 4th and final weekend. I haven't lost the loads of Weight I hoped but I am feeling the benefits of not drinking- sleeping better, I don't feel so run ragged by the dc, and I just feel a bit more in control of when I choose to have a drink rather than just drinking for the sake of it. I am enjoying my running too, which I never thought I'd say.

I'm up for a proper strict, fully accountable, kick ass week next week if anyone wants to join me? Hopefully my body will have stopped messing around with its post-run water retention craziness, and if I do 4 or 5 good 800 days I could actually have a decent loss. So far in September I think I've lost 6lb so that's not awful, but not great either (when considering today is week 4 day 1). Next weekend is destined to be off plan as its ds's 2nd birthday and also dh's so it's party weekend in the bear house. Really should be an incentive to be extra good!

Hope you're all having a good Friday?

Gave up waiting and cooked it myself!

Can I ask what everyone thinks about cheat days. I was reading an article about how they help psychologically but I’m not sure. During the week, I don’t have a problem but the weekends are tough. I don’t think a cheat day every week would be good but what do you think about once a fortnight? And obviously not a major blowout but just not worrying about it for a day.

HerRoyalFattyness · 23/09/2017 15:44

I don't have cheat days, just planned days off plan. So I don't track, but find I'm still eating a lot less than I previously would have.

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 23/09/2017 15:58

Her Do you plan them in regularly or do you just do them as things occur?

HerRoyalFattyness · 23/09/2017 16:21

Just as things occur. Next planned one is and if October for DS1s birthday.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/09/2017 21:37

I tend to have 2 categories of 'cheat day'. One is a full on cheat, usually involving alcohol and / or pudding! These are usually planned, as in birthdays, meals out or weekends away etc when i know I'm going off plan. The other is more of a 'no count' day- if I know like today I'm at A family party, but know I can pretty much eat on plan but not calorie count, then I'll just do that. I do it sometimes at the weekend for both days. Sometimes I just need more food! It's obviously easier if there's no drink involved, and actually today I had a small granary roll as well, but was pretty much on plan all day. I find that works for me as although it does stall weightloss a bit, the odd day of no calorie count doesn't really do too much damage. I find the full cheat day can show a pound or two on the scales the next day but generally that will go after a few strict days.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 24/09/2017 12:09

I have two types of cheat day too. Ones that are planned well in advance ie holidays, lunch with friends, parties. Then ones where I just feel I need to eat more. Even on cheat days, I still fill in my food diary. It helps me see how much I'm going to have to compensate at some point Grin

tobee · 24/09/2017 14:04

Hello I’m still around but not had anything interesting to say.

Cheaty few days here with dh birthday celebrations and ds going to uni (needed the comfort, lol).

Thinking of sticking in a 5:2 week in here or there. I’ve done it before, before staring bsd. Will be low carb-ish also. Do you reckon it will work?

SpaghettiAlphabetti · 24/09/2017 18:54

Totally off plan here with poorly DD. Going to have to do some making up this week.

SpaghettiAlphabetti · 25/09/2017 06:42

Up at 5 with a wet bed from DS. Ughhh.

To add some context my DD has been really poorly all weekend so it was less cheating and more just having to eat what was easily and to hand. My DH works abroad so no help or anyone to sit with her whilst I cook.

I didn't actually eat much but what I ate was disastrous. Indian takeaway and pasta yesterday lunchtime were the main offenders.

I'm going to pay for that big time aren't I? Hoping to make the gym today but I'm really tired!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/09/2017 07:49

Morning all,
Sorry to hear you've had a tough weekend spaghetti, how is dd today? I think in these situations it's a 'needs/ must ' scenario.

I've not been great this weekend; mostly ok on Saturday, no alcohol even at family party, but did have a roll and a small cupcake. Yesterday didn't calorie count, did well most of the day, but then discovered my delicious salmon was on the turn and ended up having fish finger sandwiches and potato wedges for tea! Blushand then a cupcake. So.........

Daren't brave the scales this morning. I'm just going to aim for a really back to basics week. It's week 4 for me, so would be nice if I could show some reduction for the whole month! Especially as this weekend is a planned blow out; I could undo a whole months hard work if I don't focus this week.

On the plus side- I have enjoyed September. I have enjoyed not drinking, I'm enjoying my running (did 2k this morning at 6am which is such a huge change from the me of last month) and I feel healthier, people are telling me I've lost weight and look great (even though I can't really be looking visibly slimmer) so that's all positive.

Busy day planned today so I'm hoping to keep fasting til mid afternoon. I'm trialling something called 5htp this week as its my hormonal week as due on next week. I usually dive headfirst into the biscuit tin, but this is supposed to help you make serotonin and improve mood so I'm giving it a try.

Have a great day everyone!

Spaghetti Flowers for having a wet bed and a poorly DC.

I had lunch with friends yesterday so will probably have gained a little again. Maybe I just need to accept that this is the weight I'm going to be. It's over 2 stones less than when I started and it gives me a healthy BMI. Perhaps that's the most I can hope for . . .

Oblomov17 · 25/09/2017 13:11

Oh Spaghetti, I agree, sick dc = 'needs must'. Take care of yourself.

Lunch.

Will brave the scales tomorrow morning. Have been putting it off. Hmm

Just had this for my dinner- really really nice. Tasted home cooked. Small amount of sugar but overall it wasn't too bad at 244 calories and 7.7g carbs. It is quite a handy thing to have in the freezer for 'emergencies'

I've fallen completely off the wagon and am sitting in the road!

But I've had a lot of thinking and although I'm super pleased with my 2 stone loss I simply can't sustain 800 calories a day in the long term. As soon as I step off the straight and narrow it all goes wrong for me.

So I don't know what I'm going to do right now...

SpaghettiAlphabetti · 26/09/2017 06:50

Thanks all. She's on the mend so is going to school today. DH is back this week so looking forward to some help and a break.

I know I will put on but I can't think about that too much. It was definitely needs must and obviously I haven't made the gym all weekend as I couldn't leave her with my babysitter.

The worst thing about DS's wet bed was that he was in it bed at the time.

I will go into work today which means it's generally easier to stick to less calories although I'm worried the carbs I've eaten the past few days will make me hungry.

flighty the only thing I can offer as motivation is my own mantra that if I don't stick to something the scales soon move in the other direction. That said I've had many times where I haven't cared that much because dieting is so hard.

bear M&S Balanced For You do a few ok meals you can keep in. The chicken tikka with cauli rice is nice. That's what I wish I'd had in this weekend!

Oblomov17 · 26/09/2017 07:34

I think 'crisis planning' is a good idea spaghetti. For us all. Order yourself 2 of those tikka and cauliflower rice, for emergencies, and shove them in the freeze.

I now have 6 bags of cauliflower curry, and 3 containers of roasted pepper, lentil, feta, in the the freezer, from my batch cooking. It's a nice feeling knowing you've got something to easily grab, when disaster strikes/you just can't be bothered.
Damage limitation!! Grin

APlaceOnTheCouch · 26/09/2017 11:05

I had a good day yesterday: 792 cals and 52g carbs.
I've been trying some new recipes this weekend with food I needed to use up ie Hairy Bikers sausage casserole; pea and garlic soup. They were both excellent.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/09/2017 11:28

I've heard good things about the hairy bikers recipes but never tried them. Is that their diet book place? Has anyone tried Jamie's 5 ingredients book? I've bought it for Dh for his birthday but it hasn't arrived yet.

A good day so far for me. Had a tbsp real cream in my coffee instead of milk, it felt really filling which is bizarre. Yummy. Contemplating lunch options now- haven't had eggs for a while so I might just do some dippy eggs.

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 26/09/2017 11:47

bear it was this recipe Hairy Bikers sausage casserole
but without the bacon, beans, Worcestershire sauce, chilli powder or sugar Grin
I don't have any of their books or Jamie's new one.
The last book I bought was the Joe Wicks' one. It includes a sausage casserole recipe but it's not as tasty as the Bikers' one.

JigglyTuff · 26/09/2017 14:23

Flighty - I've decided I'm going to try and stick 800 cals during the week and stick largely to BSD principles at the weekend but not watch calories. Do you reckon you could do that?

I had a conference last week and it overran so ended up eating a massive chocolate chip and walnut cookie in the car on the way home because I'd eaten such a tiny lunch trying to stick to low carb.

Incidentally, has anyone else tried Oppo ice cream? It leaves a horrible aftertaste if you eat a whole tub of it at once Blush but it's only 74 cals for 100ml and 6g of carbs

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 26/09/2017 18:33

Been weighed, lost half a stone. Is it bad that I’m a bit disappointed, was hoping for more. But I have to be realistic, it’s only been two weeks.

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 26/09/2017 18:38

That’s not a stealth boast by the way. I think I was hoping for miracles. If only I could wish away my fat!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/09/2017 19:34

I think that's bloody marvellous Ramsey Star- half a stone is great. Do you feel the benefits now the detox is over?

Ended up having avocado and smoked salmon for lunch, like some weird 70's starter. Was nice though. Dinner was tandoori chicken and cauliflower, just oven baked, and it was breathtakingly tasty. I honestly could have eaten it all over again, it was delicious. Probably because I was starving hungry, but I guess that's a good thing. Not sure how many calories I've had today but will work it out later.

Jiggly that sounds like a good maintenance plan, it's what I tend to do when I'm trying to keep on it but not really managing the calorie counts, and I pretty much maintain, so in theory it could work for you. You might find you could then build up to another full 8 weeks if you still have more to lose?
