Oblomov that curry looks delicious!

Welcome Ramsey - I actually feel quite excited for you stepping on the scales after 2 weeks!

I've had such a busy day, cleared loads of crap out of the garage, built some shelves, went for a quick run (but by that time I was too tired and my heart wasn't in it) - but as a result probably haven't drunk enough water, and haven't calorie counted either. I have had very few carbs though. Dh cooking Jamie's Cypriot chicken tonight (groundbreaking news- Dh rarely cooks, and certainly not new things) so I'm going to enjoy that and resume calorie counting tomorrow. (I need a few days at 800 as this week I haven't actually managed it, more like 1000 & low carbs). We've got some Greek yoghurt and some fresh raspberries for a pudding tonight too.

My week went completely fucked on Thursday. No idea why, it just has.

There will be some booze in a short while. Just to compound it!

I would like to lose another half a stone in the next few weeks and I'm starting again tomorrow, but today. Today I just can't.

yumyumpoppycat · 17/09/2017 00:00

Oblomov Grin war of the roses!

Welcome Ramsay!

Flighty it will be fine if you get back on it - very hard to do this diet for 8 weeks solid.

Well done on a productive day Bear, good feeling when that happens!

SpaghettiAlphabetti · 17/09/2017 08:04

flighty a friend of mine who lost a lot of weight always had a weekly 'diet off day'. Not so much a day of going crazy but not writing everything down, a glass of wine in the evening and healthy but bigger portions. Maybe a spoonful of rice with dinner etc.

She said it stopped her permanently pushing the 'fuck it button' which I know I've done plenty of times before.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 17/09/2017 10:16

I had a takeaway on Fri and ended up with food poisoning. I guess it serves me right for ignoring BSD. So I spent Friday night and most of yesterday feeling ill. Then completely over-compensated last night when I felt like I could eat again.
Today I'm helping my DSIS move house and then later I'll try making the meatzza. I'm still feeling a bit meh.
Oblomov your curry looks amazing.
Welcome Ramsay sugar-free fizzy drinks are my downfall too

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/09/2017 10:27

Oh no place that's not good. I have only had real FP once and it left me feeling incredibly weak- hope you feel better soon.

Just made some roasted butternut soup, and put my pork in to do pulled pork later. Another busy day ahead, just sorting stuff out, listing things on eBay, and chucking stuff out!

Have a great day all

APlaceOnTheCouch · 17/09/2017 12:16

bear yy to feeling weak. I slept most of yesterday afternoon so have lots to catch up with today.

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 17/09/2017 14:14

I had the no carb waffles out of the book for brunch today and, I've got to say, I wasn't impressed! 🤢 I've been looking on the My protein website and a lot of the stuff on there looks good. Obviously have to avoid the stuff with sugar in it but it may help. I'm struggling with having no treats. I bought some cashews but just read they should be avoided as they are high carb 🙁

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/09/2017 16:11

Ramsey The no carb waffles- are they the ones made with coconut flour? If I can recall, yes, they are interesting!! I use a lot of Paleo recipes, and look on Pinterest for low carb high fat recipes as well. Everything requires a bit of a tweak, but usually can find some nice things. And I find you can't beat good ol' Jamie Oliver too.** The cashews are quite high, but then all nuts are really. I'd still have them, just weigh them and enjoy them. I find nuts so Moreish i can't buy them anymore!

OP posts:
RamsayBoltonsConscience · 17/09/2017 18:13

Yes, the waffles have coconut flour. They were more like omelettes than waffles and the addition of baking powder was 😷. I’ve been looking at paleo recipes today. Tbh I feel like I’ve spent all day thinking about food. Had my dinner now though and I’m actually full and didn’t eat the whole meal so swings and roundabouts!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/09/2017 19:11

Forgive me Michael mosely, for I have sinned......

I had my delicious soup, salad lunch, pork and loads of sprouts and carrots for dinner, no wine.....then 4 cadbury's heroes. I don't know why, they weren't even that nice. And now I feel like I could spread butter and jam on a scabby donkey. Boooooo! Isn't it odd how it just reignites the cravings almost instantly? I think the toll of having a good week with rubbish results just tipped me over the edge!

Doing my shopping list for the week ahead, and feeling a bit 'meh' about it now, so I'm going to mix it up with some new recipes. Lunches I always struggle with- what does everyone have except salad& protein?

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 17/09/2017 21:44

Well I eventually made the meatzza. It was nice but I still felt hungry afterwards. Even DS said it needed more toppings. He was right! But on the plus side it's much easier than the faff of making meatballs.

Flightywoman · 17/09/2017 22:25

Back on it today!

I've been doing BSD since May, with a summer break, and I'm over 2st down. That's a good thing and I am proud of myself.

I'm going to REALLY apply myself and try to shift another half stone in the next 7 weeks - by my sister's wedding.

Today I'm on under 400 cals - I have eaten, I've just been busy! Might have a bit of yogurt though.

frumpety · 18/09/2017 06:10

Well I am supposed to be starting today , but due to working all weekend and forgetting that the shops close early on a Sunday , actually forgetting it was Sunday really , I am not very organised at all .

Going to have a quick scoot through the fridge and see what I can put together that is low carb and low calorie for lunch , marinated anchovies are OK right ?

Oblomov17 · 18/09/2017 12:55

1 1/2 pounds down. That's good. Smile
But, Is that all?
Christ. I can shit that!! With an average sized pooh. Angry

Keeps on..... God this is all too much like hard work, isn't it?

APlaceOnTheCouch · 18/09/2017 16:45

Oblomov 1.5 lbs is good - well done!
But I know what you mean about it being hard work. I've started avoiding the scales. It's too disheartening. I don't even understand why I'm not losing. Although I have some good days and some bad days, overall my carbs and cals seem to be ok. I've been exercising more. I'm getting more sleep. But the scales are not moving. It's not fair

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/09/2017 17:07

Oblomov 1.5 is great. Don't be so hard on yourself. Smile

Place I'm with you. I've having a real love hate relationship with my scales at the moment. I am prepared to forgive them, but they have to prove that they mean it this time. Mine have slightly, slightly moved this morning. Like fractions of pounds. Ounces. Grams. I've been more consistently good this month than I have in ages, and it just doesn't compute.

Despite my four chocs swerve yesterday I've been good today. Salad lunch, stuffed mushrooms for tea. Annoyingly bought low fat Greek yog not full fat, it's something to do with lidl's packaging I alwAys get the wrong one, but it's horrible so at least it means I don't eat it!!

I am at the Dr's tomorrow about my 6 month headache, which I am a bit apprehensive about tbh, and would probably be having a glass of wine tonight to relax if I wasn't being teetotal!!

Can I ask if the people not losing also don't have type 2 diabetes.

I can't see I will get anywhere near the average Mosely loss but I'm not T2 diabetic. I noticed one of the symptoms of T2 is losing weight so maybe the book is misleading if you are trying to lose weight without the added complication of T2??

Anyway, it is all very annoying. I agree.

Who asked about lunch? I do better with lunch because I don't have breakfast so have more calories to play with. Mostly I am salad and protein but I've also been having three egg omelettes and today I made a kind of brunch.... two dry fried eggs, a tablespoon of baked beans, mushrooms and a rasher of bacon. Was lovely

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/09/2017 17:27

I'm not T2, but I definitely do have the potential to be, which is why I'm doing this now.

It was me that asked about lunches- That brunch sounds lovely. I did enjoy it last week having something hot. I do sometimes have a portion of leftovers from the freezer, or soup, but I find it a hassle. I'm just getting bored of salads, and find that I add too many extras (such as morrocan hummus!) which then make it actually quite a high calorie choice.

Tonight I'm having stuffed mushrooms from Lidl, and I'm having both because I'm starving!

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 18/09/2017 18:46

Spaghetti I don't have T2. I've lost 2.5 stones since last April. At my lowest it was 3 stones but I've gradually climbed back up.
Oddly enough I saw family yesterday and they all thought I'd lost more weight, even though it's only a week since I last saw them.
In a way that was even more frustrating because I was arguing with them that I haven't lost anything. I guess they were just being polite because I'm sure my measurements haven't changed either.

SpaghettiAlphabetti · 18/09/2017 20:08

That's a fantastic loss couch! Don't get me wrong I don't doubt everyone loses weight but the book says the average is 16kg in 8 weeks and I won't be anywhere near that!

Just musing really.

SpaghettiAlphabetti · 18/09/2017 20:09

bear it was lovely!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 18/09/2017 20:19

Spaghetti I think I only lost one stone in the first eight weeks but it did include over a week's holiday. You may be right that being diabetic makes a difference to the rate of losses.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/09/2017 20:35

I suppose that if you are T2 and on insulin (which some of the big names in the book- Carlos is one?- are) and if you are able to fluctuate your insulin dose dependent on your sugars then the effect might be two fold. As in, you cut the calories, you stabilise your blood sugars, Weight starts to drop; then you cut your insulin, reduce fat storage time, continue to follow plan, and Weight drops more rapidly than someone who doesn't have the added bonus (that sounds wrong but ykwim) of reducing/stopping the medication which is making them fatter in the first place. ??

Call me a cynic if you wish, but also, those people in the books are extreme examples- the guy about to die, the guy having his foot amputated, the woman with GD that turned to T2, the TOFI guy...... Most 'norms' aren't going to lose 42lb in 8 weeks. I lost 21lb in my first 8 weeks and I was very good, partly because everything I ate I questioned and checked, and wrote down. This time I'm too blaze! I write my calories dish today and then remembered I ate an apple and 3 strawberries, and 3 slices of chorizo earlier- that's 180 cals extra! (I wonder if maybe I do this more often than I realise???)

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 18/09/2017 21:44

Two people asked me if I’d lost weight today 😁 and they weren’t people that I had told about the diet!
