Hi I am almost 30 and now that I am all finished with babies and breastfeeding it's time to lose some weight!!! I have about 20kg to lose and the 5:2 diet has worked for me in the past. Is there any ladies who want to join me and make 2017 our year?
I really need some help to keep motivated.

Newman sorry if this is adaft question but are you male or female? Men can have 600 on a FD in which case no problem! And TBH, even if you are female that still counts as a FD in my book.

I am bouncing around the same weight which is fine with me tbh as long as I don't gain. I am heaviest on a Monday after relaxed weekend and then lose 2-4 pounds with a good FD on a Monday and round we go again.

I am going to experiment with some low calorie meal replacement shakes instead of a second FD and see what happens.

Newmanwannabe · 17/01/2017 14:27

Hi blossom. No I'm female. I sort of feel I cheated but I've decided it is ok as I'm trying to make it a way of life rather than a diet as such. I've been weighing myself everyday which I've found helpful because it is up and down by anywhere up to a kg. I can see a gradual drop though and it's made me not worry so much about the actual numbers as I have now seen how much they change. I've only lost about 3kg in 4 weeks, but my clothes are looser and my skin clearer so I know it's working (hopefully I've put some muscle on!)

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 18/01/2017 13:21

How much do you all eat on non-fast days? Are you very careful with calories or do you go a bit fuck it?

MrsSlocombesPussy · 19/01/2017 06:51

Hi. Do you mind if I join too? I'm a week and a half into the diet and have lost 4lbs so far. I have about 5 stones to lose, and am determined to have lost half of that by my 50th birthday in September.

I have done this diet before, but have been gaining and losing the same 10lbs for about a year now. Then I gave up for a couple of months before Christmas.

However something is different now, I feel like I'm really going to do it this time

Iamblossom · 19/01/2017 07:51

toomuch I am careful during the week and do relax it on Fridays. I also try and fast on Saturdays during the day as I then know I can eat and drink in a relaxed way in the evening as dh often cooks something lovely.

I did my first day of two meal replacement shakes instead of a second fd yesterday and came in at 1100 cals after a decent evening meal of cold pork with salad and soup, and two white wine spritzers.

Sorry I know this is a 5:2 thread and not a meal replacement shake thread but I am enjoying experimenting. Deffo recommend two fds a week for consistent weight loss, that is certainly what I did to shift a stone. I guess I am in weight maintenance zone now really.

Newmanwannabe · 19/01/2017 14:33

I would say I'm definitely more mindful of what I eat on nfd nowadays but if I want something I have it. I generally can't eat my allowance of 1500csl though. Usually I'm about 1200. Is that ok or does it mean I'm compromising my metabolism? I read somewhere recently you can up your calories with a few handfuls of nuts so I'm thinking of doing that when I'm under?

jugotmail · 22/01/2017 08:43

Its Sunday, its weigh in and its goodbye 1lb more - hurrah! I only managed one proper fast day and one mini this week and pigged out at lunch yesterday so im happy with this. Got to loose 1 1/2lb this week to meet my Jan goal .

Hope everyone else is still going strong.

jugotmail · 23/01/2017 14:12

Right today is a fast day

brixtononmymind · 26/01/2017 11:19

Anyone out there want to send me words of encouragement?? I'm struggling today - up in the night with my ill toddler DD & cld use a good blow-out on chocolate or something right now...also, anyone else not seeing that much in the way of results? This is the beginning of my fourth week, I've been doing it strictly - no cheating at all and so far I've always managed two days a week - and I've been eating quite well on my non-fast days (not ridiculously over-doing it or anything) but I've only lost about a pound & a half & frankly, this could just be in the margin of error - possibly not even real! It's very frustrating...

jugotmail · 26/01/2017 17:49

Hey Brixton keep at it - if today has turned into a chocolate smeared disaster so what just swap your fast day and put this one down as a pamper day. My loss has been slow but to be honest i dont mind as its still a loss and is probably more sustainable in the long run. What excercise have you been doing as this might tip the balance for you?

I'm starting today! I've low carbed successfully before but it just isn't working for me this time - I feel too deprived to stick to it. And the sugar cravings were driving me mad!

So I watched the Horizon programme, read the book and did my first fast day today. Skipped breakfast and lunch, then beef stir fry with tons of green veg for dinner. I did use around 50 cals on almond milk in tea too.

5'7 (and a half!)
13st 3lb
Waist massive but I've lost my tape measure.

I want to get down to 10st.

Shaistaali · 30/01/2017 00:32

Jugotmail - thanks. I managed to stick it out. As for exercise, I'm doing loads of walking and the occasional gym session. Probably not enough TBH! But I am going to stick it out the fast thing and see if I can make it part of life rather than a diet per se. This is already the longest I've managed to stick to any kind of eating plan every (I'm in week 4) so that is a triumph! I watched the Horizon doc for inspiration and bought myself a trashy mag to distract myself from hunger/tiredness/boredom. It worked!

jugotmail · 30/01/2017 12:35

Weigh in yesterday another 1/2lb down (just over) so just a smidge more until I reach my Jan target. Upped the exercise last week as well so a bit meh that it wasnt more but its still positive.

Hope everyone else is still feeling strong

bailey1234whops · 01/02/2017 16:46

Hi planning on starting this tomorrow, I've been trying to healthy eat since new year but nothing is shifting so going to try this along side it.
I'm 5:3ft and weight 12st.
Carrying a lot of baby weight from September.
Does anyone have any success stories?

jugotmail · 03/02/2017 12:28

Welcome Bailey I have lost just under half a stone since the new year with just fasting (not particulary strict but if its under 600 it counts for me). Its been slow but steady and now im starting to add my excercise to the reduced cal mix so might pick up. I am aiming for 5lb loss in Feb as its a short month.

Roni1967 · 03/02/2017 14:28

Hello all, congratulations to all those that have stuck to it.
I have been so bad at posting, so here's my update.
My weigh days are Wednesdays,
18th Jan I lost another 1.5lbs (was disappointed by this, but it had been DS's 18th and therefore had had a few celebration lunches/dinners/ and wine!
25th Jan- I lost a whopping 31/4 lbs. I was so happy, but had been good and exercised. That was 8lbs lost for the month of January.
1st Feb- not only did I not lose, I gained a lb. I am so so disappointed. Yes I did have a heavy weekend, but I thought my fast days and exercise would counteract that?!
Anyway but on track and I have been good, doing 3 fast days this week and not letting a morsel over 500cals go past my lips on my fast days. Wish me luck for next week.......!

jugotmail · 05/02/2017 08:57

Arghhh DH is away so just me and the small one, its throughly miserable, someone smashed into my car on run day so i didnt run just spent ages sorting that (and needing a cake!) and family meal out last night when i tried to be good but failed at dessert - boooo. So weighin this morning was not a happy event but at least i hadnt put any on, going to be super good this week (promise)

brixtononmymind · 06/02/2017 15:11

Everyone else is doing a lot better than I am!!! I have lost very little - maybe 3.5 to 4 pounds, if that, in about 5 weeks. I clearly need to step up the exercise! In fairness, the trend is downward, which is good, and I don't have that much to lost - just that stubborn last 10 or 12 pounds of baby weight that has been hanging around for about 4 years. Anyway, I salute the rest of you!

jugotmail · 13/02/2017 10:18

A day late for this weeks weigh in party. Down another 1 1/2lb so on track for my 5lb Feb target and the stone number should go down next Sunday (fingers crossed). Only managed one run last week as I had a poorly boy but next week is half term for us so no runs but hopefully a couple of big walks.

How is everyone feeling six weeks in ????

brixtononmymind · 14/02/2017 07:55

I continue to offer a counterpoint to the success of others! On the one hand, I am proud of myself for lasting this long and adjusting very well, on the other, I am really not achieving the kind of results I had hoped for at all. I've lost maybe 3 or so pounds in six weeks, which is frankly pretty pathetic. I had not thought I was particularly over-doing it on my non-fast days, but perhaps I need to re-think that. Any way, at least I'm not gaining, and it seems to have helped to re-set my eating habits. I believe I have generally cut down on sweets and snacking, and it has helped with my self-control and ability to delay gratification. So those are benefits...but three pounds...REALLY??? Anyway, onward and (hopefully) downward.
