Shiny new thread for the BSD'ers. Best thing you can do is first read the MM bsd book do you get a full grasp of what the rules are but in a nutshell:
800 calories a day
No bread/pasta/potatoes/rice
No processed food, no alcohol
As close to no sugar you can get
Full fat, no low fat
Protein to keep you full
2-3 litres of water a day
10,000 steps a day (work your way up)
HIIT if you can 2-3 times a week

Argh I was doing so well and it's all gone wrong. Put on 6 pounds this week! My husband has the week off and the house is filled with all my favourite treats. He keeps making meals with things I'm not meant to have. My little one started full time school yesterday and I have a cold. Have a wedding on Saturday that I was aiming to be half a stone lighter for.

pfrench · 27/09/2016 08:58

My brother has bought into Joe Wick’s 90 day plan. He doesn’t need to lose weight (in fact he struggles to keep it on), but wants to eat more healthily, and get fitter. I’ve been reading some of Joe Wick’s things, and have been doing his HIIT workouts for the last few weeks, although I struggle to keep to the schedule of exercise because I’m in so much pain from them!!

Anyway, talking to him has helped me work out my plan for post BSD – my first 8 weeks finishes on Saturday.

I’m going to do 800 cals a day for the week days, and 1200 cals a day for the weekends. I’m also going to keep going with the Joe Wick’s HIIT until I can actually fit everything into the proper schedule. For the meal after I’ve exercised, I’m going to eat some carbs, because I seriously need to keep my gut moving. These will be oats with bran, chick peas, lentils and a bit more fruit rather than bread and pasta, but still more than I’ve eaten in the last two months.

Going to stick to that for another 8 weeks, probably more strictly than I have stuck to 800 cals a day for the last 8 weeks, and see how I go. I’ve lost about a stone and a half, although over the last 2 weeks I’ve bobbling along gaining a lb, losing a lb. Going to weigh myself every day for the next 8 weeks just to see how the carbs affect things.

It has definitely made me want to change the way I eat on a more permanent basis though, so that’s a huge positive.

Me too cherry my hearts just not in it at the moment, after a few excellent dats last week I had a disastrous weekend and yesterday. Today I'm baking- a coffee and walnut cake, and cupcakes (for a coffee morning tomorrow) and a space rocket birthday cake for baby ds who is 1 on Thursday. So.......
Made soup yesterday which kept me going, but then for dinner I had a baked potato, I haven't eaten potato in any significant quantity since Easter. My stomach was really painful last night, I wonder if I was affected by it?

APlaceOnTheCouch · 27/09/2016 10:28

bear it probably was the potato that upset your stomach. I had a KFC last week. It was the first one I had had for months and I had an upset stomach after it. I think our bodies adapt to BSD.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/09/2016 10:31

I think you are right place, it was the only thing I ate yesterday that I really haven't eaten in months. Strange.

Loungingbutnotforlong · 27/09/2016 15:09

Hi- wonder if the change in the weather has any impact. I am 4 weeks into the BSD, and was doing really well on the salads and veg. Last few days it has been cold and dreary and I've been really wanting the sugar boost from chocolate. It just shows that I cannot even have one, because as soon as I do, I am in 'trough mode'. Back on it today- must be committed. Fish for tea!

Lndnmummy · 27/09/2016 17:01

I have made some yummy snickers type things with dark choclate, coconut and peanut butter. So easy and helps to have at home if you get a craving. V low carb

yumyumpoppycat · 27/09/2016 17:22

lnd that snickers sounds yummy. I discovered coca raspberry 9 bars on offer in waitrose yesterday - vaguely healthy but calorific and carby - - maybe these can be my totm treat. Actually I knicked one of ds' minsterels yest and it was miniging -like eating straigh sugar.

I wonder if we are all in sync with our off days, totm today and yesterday and today were so carby. This usually means situation will improve at least.

Newaverage baking is a nightmare I love cake decorating (my best triumph was a cake tub of popcorn with a minion bursting out - classy ;). so dont want to give it up but practically impossible for me not to eats some before during and after in my case. At least I only have 3 dc. Am going to keep my head down re bake sales but already lined up to make biscuits for something in a couple of weeks.

Hope everyone gets their mojos back soon Flowers

yumyumpoppycat · 27/09/2016 17:33

Good luck with your plan btw Pfrench. Pos you could prob have more cals a few days a week, esp if doing HIIT, but was it your mum and dad that eat 800 anyway? If so maybe that will be enough? What about calculating your tdee for your target weight and eating to that level once a week? Good idea to experiment with carbs as all helps for figuring out maintenance.

unsweetened peanut butter is fine but very calorifc - I try to weigh it. 15g spreads thinly on one slice of (multigrain naturally ;) ) toast and is 100 cals Shock so as much as the bread.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/09/2016 17:53

...bread is not low carb so prob not ok, but the peanutbutter is low carb... sorry if i have confused anyone, it is pos to have one slice and still have an ok carb count for the day though.

zobalina77 · 27/09/2016 18:22

Has anyone made the sweet chilli sauce from the recipe book? Mine has turned out really thick, more like a pesto than a sauce. I have loosened it up with some water but its still really thick. May have overdone the chia seeds.

Talking of chia seeds, what else can I do with them as I have a huge pack and don't think I'll be making the sweet chilli again.

Lndnmummy · 27/09/2016 18:43

Basically melt 50g dark choclate and put in cupcake forms, just thin layer just enough to cover base. Pop in freezer. Melt peanut butter about 1.5dl, mix with grated coconut and almond milled or flour (about 2 tbsp each). Take out choclate things, put peanut butter mix on top, pop all back in freezer. Melt another 50g of choclate and poor on top of the rest, back in freezer to set. They are calorific so cant be had loads all the time but I have 1-2 with a glass of wine on a Saturday night.

I find that eating just two meals a day makes me feel the fullest. I have had a slowish week this week weightwise, I think I need to try and add more walking in now. Also drank an enormous amount of prosecco on the weekendBlush naughty me!! My eating was still great though so am kinda proud of that.

Lndnmummy · 27/09/2016 18:45

You can make chia seed pudding. I have done them with both yoghurt and coconut milk and then add some berries (raspberries/bluberries) some saffron or cinammon tastes nice as well!

Cherrypi · 27/09/2016 23:32

Glad it's not just me thenewaveragebear. I think baking was my downfall too.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 29/09/2016 11:41

WI this morning. I'm now 1lb away from being in the healthy BMI range. Since I have a horrible cold, I'm hoping it affects my appetite and I manage to lose 1lb over the next week.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/09/2016 12:46

A place fingers crossed that 1lb comes off - well done you are sooo close you can touch it, hope your cold gets better soon. I am making some lamb broth right now shame its not chicken) so am sharing virtual broth with you.

Zobalina I am the same, massive (prob out of date) bag of chia seeds to use. I am not a massive fan of yoghurt but maybe will sprinkle some in a smoothie concoction tomorrow. Still waiting for my recipe book to arrive.

Hope cake going well Newaverage, and that everyone is doing good. sun back out so might risk a load of washing.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/09/2016 19:39

Cake going a little too well really! I'm writing this week off to be honest, then I need to really get back on it from Sunday. I'm feeling really fat and bloated and I daren't even weigh myself.
Hope everyone's doing better than me!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 29/09/2016 20:04

Happy birthday BabyBear!
Oh bear it's your baby's birthday -don't be too hard on yourself. You know you'll be able to get back on BSD next week once all the events are over and you have your lovely new recipe book to help keep you on track. Enjoy birthday cuddles with your little one. Flowers

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/09/2016 21:53

I know, except I 've been struggling for weeks really do this is just another bad week on a long list of bad weeks....
I really want to get back on it, I'm thinking of doing stoptober anyway but that might help me rein in the weekends. I have literally eaten thousands of calories this week and it's not nice really. Perhaps this is my 'rock bottom' !!??
But yes, baby bear's birthday and as he's my last (of 3) I have partaken in all the delights on offer. Tomorrow is a new, low carb, sugar free day!

yumyumpoppycat · 29/09/2016 21:57

Fresh start on monday bear, enjoy all the celebrations...sometimes a week off is just needed.

so so day here was using up lamb from sunday didnt bother calorie counting as I couldnt feed it to any one else at this stage and had it for lunch and dinner, the lunch version was nice but dinner was a step too far!

yumyumpoppycat · 29/09/2016 22:09

newaverage don' forget it is normal to eat 1000s of cals. I think a normal sized meal now feels much bigger and I feel like I have been really eating too much but its not as bad as it seems iykwim.

what changing it up a bit and instead of concentrating on low carb aim for 'healthy' and 1000cals for a few days, that way you might find you end up low carb but if you want something you can have a small portion within the cals? I get bored so change what I am doing while approx sticking to the main rules, for example last week I was obsessed with fibre - but it motivated me to log on MFP because I was trying to hit 25g.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 30/09/2016 07:58

I had a rubbish day yesterday. I felt lousy so ended up picking at odd bits and pieces - some crisps; a few Haribo; garlic mushrooms; a fresh cream sundae; a slice of roast beef. Accompanied by lemsips and paracetamol.
I actually need to try to make and eat proper food today.
bear I think it's so difficult when we get to this stage (ie long after the 8 weeks has ended). It feels more harder to get any results. I just keep telling myself that at least I am 2.5 stone lighter than when I started.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 30/09/2016 08:00

more harder ffs Hmm it should have said 'more difficult' or 'much harder'
