Hi there, Im one of the 'old original' 5:2ers who started way back in August 2012 and lost 24lbs..

I maintained for over a year and was active on the Maintainers thread , but sadly since last summer/Autumn, ive backslid.. Now I'm 12lbs up off my lowest weight again Sad

I know what to do , I know it works , but I can hardly say I should be on the 'maintainers' again. So im posting a new thread here , in the hope that I may find some other backsliders willing to recommit along with me before it's too late ..

Come and join me again before its too late.. We can regroup and get back on track.. I'm still managing to squeeze into my sz 10s (mostly) but I cant afford a new wardrobe, I dont want to buy a larger one.. and I certainly do want to get back to what I was (and maybe finish the job properly with another half stone off , so I can rejoin the Maintainers and comfortably say that this WOE is really this time going to stay with me for life..

So anyone with me? .. I have fasted today (first one for ages) .. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!

it's a sign that i need staff! how are you doing now argh??

ARGHtoAHHH · 25/11/2014 17:46

Nearly home. Will get my steak on straight away. I'm famished, only had cuppa soup and sushi. And lots of herbal tea!!

I'm quite proud of myself Smile

ARGHtoAHHH · 25/11/2014 19:26

Okay have eaten. But I'm still really hungry. I've got such a sweet tooth.
This is so hard.

ARGHtoAHHH · 26/11/2014 08:11

morning all

Last night I had about 5 doritos before I went to bed. Really annoyed with myself, but there was a pack left over with a few left and I just ate them so quickly it wasn't until after that I thought "oh fuck".

Anyway, trying not to see it as failing. That I still did quite well in relation to how I have been eating over the last few months.

Next fast day - Thursday.

Is anyone fasting today?

Dotty342kids · 26/11/2014 10:58

not today, tomorrow for me. I've had a filthy, rotten cold these past couple of days so have just eaten what I wanted, when I wanted. Trying to get some vitamins into myself courtesy of a bowl of grapes whilst I'm at my desk, and making a yummy shepherds pie for dinner tonight so got that to look forward to.
So, will join any other fasters tomorrow Smile

TheHoneyBadger · 26/11/2014 12:33

well done aarg - it's as near as damn it! well done on getting back in the saddle and reminding yourself you don't have to eat every time it crosses your mind.

i'm fasting today as i ended up eating quite a bit yesterday so will follow with a fast today but allow myself a light tea if i want one.

shepherds pie sounds a lovely dinner for today and especially with a cold! i never get to eat stuff like that as i live just with my son who won't touch food that is all mixed together like that and hates mince anyway. not really a cook for one option.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 26/11/2014 17:50

Right. That's it!
I have to get back to this. It was soooo good before.
But i have been comfort eating and i am too fat. Cant fit into my clothes. Its so bloody depressing.
Anyone fasting tomorrow?
Its like when I fast, i'm not alive. Im not joining in with anything?????
But thats rubbish isnt it. I mean, i loved it before.
So. Tomorrow.
Fasting.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 26/11/2014 17:51

Hey Dotty
Im in!

Dotty342kids · 26/11/2014 18:20

Grin marvellous! I've got a cut and colour at the hairdressers tomorrow, across lunchtime, so that's a great way of keeping me out of mischief! Will check in to see how you're doing during the day though Smile

TheRealAmandaClarke · 26/11/2014 19:27

Hairdressers sounds like a better plan than mine, as I will be baking for the school cake sale Grin
Hey ho. Its only one day. Good luck.

Honey, I'm a vegan and my wife is an omni, so we go our own way in the kitchen - but I deny myself nothing. Typically, early in the week I'll make a pot of bolognese sauce, say, which I'll have with pasta. Then, over the next 2 or 3 days I'll ring the changes on it - lasagne, veg curry, etc. Shepherds pie even! Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 26/11/2014 20:35

didn't eat till late afternoon but had a lovely dinner of pork loin steaks and baby potatoes roast with garlic and coriander and baby sweetcorn which was delicious. had a real hankering for meat and two veg type meal. so relatively light day today but nowhere near under 500. wondering whether to aim for a fast tomorrow or friday. think tomorrow might be the better option as i have plenty of work to do so yes will commit to that and join you ladies.

welcome back on board therealamanda.

LikeaHurricane · 26/11/2014 21:50

Argh and anyone else struggling with anxiety and life in general, I can't recommend this book and the guided meditations that come with it enough. Laska initially recommended it on the main thread aaaaages ago and I can't thank her enough. (I did pm her to thank her and she was lovely) it does take a small commitment every day but my word it's worth it. It's changed so much for the better for me and helped me deal with what has been the most stressful and crap 3 years of my 47 year old life. If you google it, it's available from numerous retailers. It's worth a try. Good luck and take careSmile xx

TheRealAmandaClarke · 27/11/2014 08:51

Thanks for the tip likeahurricane
Thanks Honey your meal sounds lovely. Join us for a fast today, then friday is free.
Re: shepherds pie. Its such a lovely dish. Maybe you could make one and then portion it up for the freezer. Instant home made ready meal.

ARGHtoAHHH · 27/11/2014 09:38

Hurricane - thanks for the book recommendation. Will order it tomorrow - pay day.

I am fasting today.

I have not brought a lunch into work, and at lunchtime we have a session on meditation (20mins) - I won't have time to pop out and get anything. I have cuppa soups on my desk so will have one of those. There is a canteen downstairs that sell FINE FINE food. But I have no change (its cash only) so that means I can't divulge. So although I am already hungry, the avenues for eating are all closed. So this is good. I really have no choice BUT to fast Smile

Lots of herbal tea!

Good luck to anyone fasting today...

and yes to yummy shepherds pie! MMMMMMMMM make a batch and freeze!

Dotty342kids · 27/11/2014 09:55

I had enough left over for two spare mini shepherd's pies - yippee! Smile

Aargh sounds like today is going to work in your favour re. fasting so hope it goes according to plan.

Honey are you with us today?

ARGHtoAHHH · 27/11/2014 10:07

I could just go a mini shepherds pie right now

sips herbal tea

TheRealAmandaClarke · 27/11/2014 11:07

Oh goodness. Its tough. I had hoped to get to tea time without eating but have had 2 slices of ham and an apple.
Black coffee now until soup time at 5pm. That should be it.
I think its tougher for me at home. Just made a batch of chocolate cupcakes for the weekend and have to make lunch for the Dcs shortly.
It will be worth it.

Dotty342kids · 27/11/2014 11:20

wow Amanda that's tough on yourself, doing baking on a FD. I couldn't manage that AT all!

ARGHtoAHHH · 27/11/2014 11:43

baking on a FD!!

Kudos to you if you don't divulge. That must be torturous!

TheHoneyBadger · 27/11/2014 12:07

yes i'm with you

just black coffee so far. have got a fair bit of work to do but am now held back waiting on a client to clarify something so twiddling my thumbs.

really tummy rumbly today and it's bloody freezing here.

ARGHtoAHHH · 27/11/2014 12:09

oh fuck

I just had 2 squares of chocolate

woman at work was passing it around

I was like a woman possessed

TheRealAmandaClarke · 27/11/2014 12:20

ARGH no worries. You'll still be able to stay below 500.

Ok. Baking was tough (,they smell delicious) but now I have to ice the little feckers!
Making minestrone soup for DS and Dh. I could murder a bowl of that with a crusty, buttered roll
Still, just a marmite drink for me please Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 27/11/2014 14:44

got stressed and overwhelmed by a few things and poured a glass of wine which i'm drinking.

not ideal for a fast day.

TheHoneyBadger · 27/11/2014 14:55

mind you i just worked it out and a 100ml glass of 10% wine (lower % = lower cals) is only about 65cals.

so as long as it doesn't make me eat it's actually not much more than if i'd had a big spoon of marmite in hot water Confused also alchohol doesn't turn to fat readily but is used -it's when you add food to the equation you have a problem because the food will then go straight to storage as your body is using the readily available energy from the alcohol.

interesting reading.
