Fasting / 5:2 diet

IF, 4:3, 5:2 - Maintaining a healthy weight - Chapter 2

This thread is for those who have been practicing IF (Intermittent Fasting) for quite a while and are now at or nearing their target healthy weight. It's also for anyone who is doing it for the health benefits alone.

How do we experience fasts and balance a stable food intake while having little or no weight to lose?

How do we ensure that this WOL keeps us at the healthy weight long term rather than revert to yoyo games?

Several of us have been stable at our goal weight for a few months, now, and others are joining all the time. Obviously, the more the merrier! Grin

Here is the current main thread for posters practicing IF to lose weight.

There are two other associated threads:
This one, which is an absolute goldmine of Tips and Links on how to practice IF, and the research behind it.

And here is a treasure trove of 5:2 recipes, mostly low calorie for fasting days, but there are also recipes for when you want to treat yourself. And, now we're maintaining, we'll need more of these! Grin

I'll second that, Tip!

Can't get on with FB, although I've tried...

And glad to see you officially over here, BB! [thumbsup]

betsy whoop whoop, congrats on the official move, would love to see some pics, although like you I have always been incredibly camera shy, so very few photo's but there is one terrible one from when my son was 6 weeks old....I'll have to try and get a digital copy (as poor me it was taken when my brother was visiting from Canada and my Mum wanted a whole family photo, so now it's on her living room wall!!! )

My brother is back at Christmas though and both me and the other brother, (as well as my mum) have all lost weight, so will be good to have an updated family shot!

wildwater you adventure sounds amazing and it's great that 5:2 feels just as easy to do there as here.

Thanks b&w, mocnk! Before and after photos now up! The before shot was from a load of photos I had no idea existed, unfortunately no standing one to compare properly but you get the idea...

BB What an inspiration you are (as is Tip) - not sure about the 'before' pic, but the 'after' speaks for itself!

Thanks everybody. Just finishing a fast day...didn't eat anything from one night to the next. Guess that's a 22 hour fast. Then we had some soup, salad and oven-baked meat. Just a small amount, and no seconds.

Well, I always did want to live in Iceland, or somewhere else very cold, and now I have my wish! Fortunately it's also clear and fine right now - the valley standing out like one of We are hoping this holds so we can travel with Lihuen across the Andes by bus to Chile, to put him on is plane home to NZ (rather than him having to negotiate transfers and a nine-hour wait in transit in Santiago...)

Where do the words go when you are typing away but then the words aren't appearing on the screen?

Cheers for now

Hi WW

You travel across the Andes to Chile by bus, we mooch up the M5 to see SIL and family. They're all adventures in the great scheme of things - it's just that yours seems a touch more glamorous than mine! Not jealous in the slightest!

But who is Lihuen? And why is she (he?) going back to NZ? Is s/he going to stay there? Study there? Holiday?

You see what you've done, don't you? Your post has raised many more questions than answers! Grin

Sorry you can't manage to start a blog yet - hope you get it sorted soon.

Yours (waiting with bated breath!) B&W

Surely you've heard of Black Holes? Grin

...and how is Lihuen's name pronounced? It looks like a beautiful name.
