I had my dd with my ex after 8 months of being with him, we did love eachother but What I thought about him wasn't correct and his true colours were shown after a while and through other reasons we split when she was a year old.
We co parented from then and it's been up n down but she's a very happy little girl and we are much happier without being in a relationship than we are togther !
He has a new partner and so do I.
How long was it before you got pregnant or had a child with your ex or current partner ? Xx

11 years. We've been together since we were 16 and got pregnant after we got married 10 years later.

Babdoc · 27/03/2021 08:19

Fourteen years, in my case, OP! I met DH my first night as a medical student at uni, when I was 19. He was a second year scientist, age 20.
We moved in together after 3 days - his accommodation offer had been messed up by the uni, and he was sofa surfing. We got married after I qualified as a doctor.
It would have been impossible to cope with a baby while working 100 hour weeks as a junior doc, so we had our first when I was 33. And our second 16 months later!

PotteringAlong · 27/03/2021 08:20

Trinacham · 27/03/2021 08:23

Been together 11 years. From the very beginning it is something we mentioned. We were 19 and going on 18 when first dating so it was always going to be in 10+ years when we talked about it. Now just thinking of TTC this year. Smile

HeeeeeyBogie · 27/03/2021 08:23

7 years, 3 years after we got married.

GroggyLegs · 27/03/2021 08:23

ANewDawnANewDay · 27/03/2021 08:24

Sweetmotherofallthatisholyabov · 27/03/2021 08:24

9 years but met at 20.

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 27/03/2021 11:30

This is the contraception topic - might be more helpful if people also included what method, and how long between stopping and conceiving?

I'd been off the pill for yonks and we!s been relying on half-assed rhythm method (because pregnancy would not have been disastrous) and condoms. From stopping the condoms it took about 3 months.

BeesAnkles · 27/03/2021 11:33

3 years. We started trying on our honeymoon.

Namechangeforspring2021 · 27/03/2021 11:34

10 years - didn’t work out and 3 years (hoping it will work out)

Ughmaybenot · 27/03/2021 11:43

DH and I will have been together nearly six years, married two and a half years when I have our first baby. It was somewhat held up by my body not playing ball, but we got there in the end.

DuzzyFuck · 27/03/2021 11:49

15 months with DP and we're TTC. Ideally we'd have waited twice that time at least but we're very happy together, have the same values and future outlook and our ages don't allow for any hanging around.

VettiyaIruken · 27/03/2021 11:49

Took me ages to work it out. I ended up having to use a calendar!
8 months.

4amWitchingHour · 27/03/2021 11:51

5 years before ttc

merryhouse · 27/03/2021 11:53

Almost ten years. Married for nearly seven.

PurBal · 27/03/2021 11:54

12 years

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 27/03/2021 11:55

What contraception though?

This is the contraception topic, not a general pregnancy chat one?

OP: did you mean to post here, looking for info on how long a delay after a particular method?

Peachylovesherpoochy · 27/03/2021 11:56

7 years together 5 months married

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 27/03/2021 12:01

7 months.

Not ideal and I wouldn’t recommend it to others. Thankfully we were/are compatible and he’s a good person, we’ve been together for decades now and have had other children since but it could’ve easily gone tits up after such a short time together.
