EllaOne Late Period

Hi all.

I've searched through and can't quite find anything similar to my current issue or none seem to have a conclusion so here goes...

My last period started on 20th Feb and ended a few days later which was normal. We had unprotected sex on the 24th and according to my app my fertile window of my cycle began a day later although ovulation wasn't until the 29th. I took EllaOne on the 27th which was well within the window for taking it. I had some severe symptoms but at the time we were unsure whether that's what they were as my partner had similar around the same time (looking back we think they were mild corona symptoms and I wasn't sick). But anyway, although I know the MAP can delay your period I'm now 11days late when I'm normally quite regular and within at lest a day or two of what my app tells me.

I did a test when I was a few days late and it showed as invalid, when I went back to it later that day it said negative but I know to ignore results after 5 minutes so I wrote that one off. Today I did another and it almost instantly said negative. I've called my Dr to try and get a phone appointment due to lockdown and the fact I'm not in the vicinity of my surgery but I'd just like to know what other peoples experiences were.

How late were you before a positive test showed?
How late were you before AF came?
For the last week one of my breasts have been quite tender at the side and I've had some aches down below. Am I worrying for nothing? My partner experienced 2 ectopic pregnancies with his ex which affected him a lot and I know there's a greater risk of that with MAP so I'm a bit concerned.

I feel like I am in a similar situation. I had unprotected sex on 17th Feb, which was the day after my period had finished. I took morning after pill on the 19th. 10 days later I had a bleed which was lighter than my normal period but not really light for around 4 days. I then counted my next period from that and am currently 4 days late! I’ve taken 2 tests both negative but am feeling extremely nauseous, not sure if it’s to do with the anxiety of it all though!

Yes all bar your bleed were in the same situation as our incident was the day after my period ended too. I've had some nausea and headaches but I've put the nausea down to being hunger sick as a little something to eat cleared it up. Total opposite to the nausea I had when pregnant with my LG

Update, I'm on day 13 now... did a phone call appointment with my GP who said I'm to keep taking a test every 7 days until I either get a positive or my period. At the moment she's not concerned but I'm to look out for ectopic pregnancy signs. She said at the most I could be 5wks pregnant and the size of an embryo that would cause pain on one side would be around 7wks. So just got to sit tight I guess until I get a definitive either way!

If I were, I would be 6/7 weeks now so surely that would show up on a test. I think it is just the hormones of the tablet delaying things. I took levonorgestrel and had to take 2 tablets due to my weight so it would have been a very high dose.

I also contacted the pharmacy I got it from and spoke to their doctor who said wait another 7 days then test again!

Same now 9 days late and no symptoms at all!

Day 22 still no period, had a negative test again a few days ago. Really starting to worry what the hell this pill has done to me. My boobs feel bigger especially my right one which is also a bit tender. As anyone experienced this after taking EllaOne?

Same I’m say 14. I spoke to the online doctor who prescribed it and he basically said it can mess with your cycle. So now just wait and test until your period comes so similar to you!

Day 32, still no period and another negative test so I think it's clear I'm not pregnant but the length of time on my period delay is seriously worrying me now. This MAP has really screwed my body up and there's little to no information out there that comes close to what I'm experiencing. I'm tempted to write to the makers of it for more clarity as I don't think my GP can help right now with there being no appointments.

Day 36 and I finally came on... ish, I had some show, enough to warrant a liner then day 37 i came in properly. My god it's awful the extreme bloating and pain.

I did contact the makers of Ella One however and because of the (in their own words) extreme adverse reaction I've had they've sent me some form to complete. I will never put my body through this again and take their product, it's messed my body up far too much, hopefully I'll never need to take such a pill again anyway. But if given the choice please don't take Ella One!

Sorry I know this thread is a little old. But after seeing you took 2 MAP due to your weight has made me panic. I am around 14 stone but was only advised to take one tablet.
Since then I have felt awful, abdominal pain especially on my right side, cramping and excessive bloating. I am bleeding normally every month but 2 days max and very light. I should also add I took the MAP end of April due to condom breaking (so have had 3 bleeds since taking MAP but so much lighter than usual)
I have took multiple pregnancy tests all say negative, lastest one I took was 2 weeks ago still showing negative, which I would think would be true after so long. But I still feel awful!
Am I being paranoid in not believing these tests? Or could I actually be pregnant?

Thank you for writing this - im in the exact same position although i had unprotected sex later in my cycle and was warned it may not work due to that. Im now 26 days late for my period - negative test so im pretty sure its just messed by body up.

I'm so glad i'm not in this boat alone!. I took the MAP 31/12/20 due t condom breaking and then took another MAP 06/01/2021 as advised by a pharma. I'm now 21 days late and nothing! Negative tests. Did anyone else come on after?

I’m now 12 weeks late. Deffo no baby as I’ve had an internal scan that didn’t show anything. I have no idea what’s going on but it is SO frustrating I will never take that pill again that’s for sure!

Hi ladies, I’m in the same boat too, took Ella one. Wasn’t told about being over weight could effect it. I use flow chart to record my periods, and I took the MAP 2 days in my fertile window. (36 hrs after sex) now 7 days late. All the period symptoms but double! Extreme bloating, such tender breasts. Negative test yesterday (cheap eBay one) no period! Have defo learned my lesson from taking this pill!!!!
Suppose it’s just an awful waiting game now!

In the same situation, had Ella one on 25/02/21 and experienced nausea, cramps and generally feeling rubbish for about a day afterwards.
Felt fine until the run up to my period due 16/03/21 felt sick, sore nipples, cramps. Still haven’t came on but keep having stabbing ovary pains. Problem is I’ve had about a million negative pregnancy tests (early ones, cheap ones, digital ones...every kind of test you can think of!) so I’m not sure what is going on

I'm experiencing the same as you all. Only 3 days late so far but so panicked. Clear negative tests, no sign of period at all and I am normally really regular. The cramps are scaring me though. Please let me know how you all got on. Did it come eventually? Do I need to get a scan if it continues?

I am on the same boat. I freaking regret taking that bloody Ella one. I had a one night stand, I had my one condoms and he used them at all times, however he seemed that he needed a snugger fit than the regular one and at some point I saw the condom rolled off just a little bit. So, as I am freaking super paranoia, I was just to be safe take an Ellaone as I was also close to ovulation day according to the flowchart app.
So, now I am 3 days late, I had crazy period pains on the day my period should visit me, and after that day the symptoms strangely got better, but I still have sore breasts and still no bleeding, and such an upset stomach. I was also dizzy and nauseas after taking the tablet but it could have been from the double dosage of antihistamine I was taking. I also had ovary cramps starting about a day or so after taking the tablet.
I’ve taken all kind of pregnancy test and they are all negative. Oh, and extreme vag dryness that’s so awful….Now, I have an appointment at a sexual clinic which was initially for another reason, but now I’ll ask them for a blood test, just to be on the safe side, I am not ready for a kid.

Mine arrived 5 days late in the end. Thank goodness. I hope yours does too!

My period was about 3 weeks late in the end. Try not to worry, if you took it within the time frame you should be good 👍🏻 X

Had sex on the 19th august took Ella one on the 21st, 3 day bleed on the 2.3&4th of September I think it was a period.. overall since taking Ella one 5 weeks after taking it negative test 4 days in a row.. that’s accurate right? Just wondered why my period was light maybe it’s from taking Ella one
