Recommendations please

I have a mirena but it's disappeared like its predecessor so I'd rather err on the side of caution

Recommendations for condoms which are not horrific please, and ideally not a million pounds each.

If you've found this page in search of condoms that have been tried and tested by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best condoms useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

I got prescribed the mini pill when my mirena was AWOL. Would that be an option?

WarIsPeace · 14/02/2019 17:11

Thanks but I can't tolerate the mini pill, I bleed forever on it. Plus I'm dating rather than in a LTR so they are kind of necessary at the moment

I don't know what these are like, but they were developed by women for women:

www.hanxofficial.com

(I once went to a presentation when they were launched and the people behind them struck me as sensible)

WarIsPeace · 14/02/2019 17:16

I looked at those on amazon but the reviews seem a bit mixed. I had feedback that the Durex Invisible are 'crap' but tbh I just grabbed what was cheap in Home and Bargain Blush Grin

I always used Durex. One time tried Tesco brand and the bastard thing split, necessitating £25 for the MAP which obviously wiped out the small saving between Tesco brand and Durex.

New partner has a preference for Skyn ones and they do seem pretty good so far.

I don't know if condomgirl is still a thing, but you used to be able to get boxes with different brands in to try out, think they worked out a bit cheaper too.

SpoonBlender · 14/02/2019 17:20

Skyn have been the best of what we've tried. They have the least 'drag'. Well, apart from the Durex ribbed ones, which slip nicely but have this terrible zip-zip noise that makes us break into giggles so, erm, no!

mistermagpie · 14/02/2019 17:31

Ditto Skyn being the best of a bad bunch. Durex are 'burny' for me and have too much drag as a pp said.

SciFiScream · 14/02/2019 17:33

We like skyn too. DH says the fit well and don't feel that different to being without.

WarIsPeace · 14/02/2019 18:03

Skyn are the latex free ones aren't they, as opposed to Skins which are cheap ordinary ones

scaredofthecity · 14/02/2019 18:05

Definately skyn!

SpoonBlender · 14/02/2019 23:32

Yes to Skyn being the latex free ones. They've got a lot cheaper since we were using them, I think we were paying a pound a shag and they're 25p in bulk now. Though by bulk I mean two-three years worth for us, 144 pack!
