Starting off a new thread for 2025 now that both organisations have opened applications for next season!

Our feet have landed back on the ground 😅 DD is just absolutely thrilled to be able to go back and do another full day with the fabulous NYMT people. She honestly had such a good time at the audition day, if the skills workshops are anything like that then I don’t think she’d be disappointed to get one of those because it means still working with them, learning and having fun!
She’s really hoping to see some of her friends from the Bristol audition at the recall day as well 🤞🏻
(and singing good girl Winnie foster on repeat 🙄😅) I just love her enthusiasm.

She sounds like she's born for NYMT regardless of the outcome. What a great attitude. How old is she?

She’s 12. Don’t get me wrong she’d love a show more than anything. But she’s already had her fair share of rejection when it comes to auditions so she’s always very pragmatic and grateful for any and all opportunities that do come her way 🙂

Fingers crossed for her. I bet she can't wait for February now!

Just to wish any DC auditioning today or tomorrow all the very best! Who's going this weekend?

Operasingerkath · 11/01/2025 08:56

Break a leg for this weekend for anyone auditioning!

TheMerryQuoter · 11/01/2025 11:24

Hi I am new here and also to NYMT. My DD got the recall for one of the show.

Do I need to register her for the casting workshop? It seems there was no link in the email for registration. TIA! X

Wigeon · 11/01/2025 11:51

DD is auditioning in London tomorrow - she's really excited!

Congratulations @TheMerryQuoter DD! Can't answer your question though as we are new to all this.

TheOliveSwan · 11/01/2025 12:28

Congrats to your DD @TheMerryQuoter! It’s our first year too, but as far as I understood it from the email we got, you don’t need to register for the casting workshops. We just hold tight for more information about what to prepare nearer the time. Exciting stuff!

good luck to your DD for tomorrow @Wigeon ! I’m sure she will love it 😊

ZooKeeper123 · 11/01/2025 16:58

This thread is giving me Deja vu from back in my ttc days! Some of us still waiting for audition day …others waiting nervously for results 😂

Cant be the only one?! 😂

Comefromaway · 11/01/2025 18:38

Hope all NYMT auditions/drama school recall went well today

Congratulations @TheMerryQuoter to your DD! If things are working the way they normally do, no need to sign up for the recall. NYMT will be in touch again nearer the time with more details about when and where to go and some materials to prepare. It will be in London - I assume the email told you which dates it could be? Well done again to your DD and welcome to the waiting room!

Thanks @@Biscuitsneeded
Yes the email had the date and time for casting workshop. Now, I am the one very nervous. It will be a good experience for DD regardless of the result.

TheOliveSwan · 12/01/2025 18:34

What show is she recalling for @TheMerryQuoter ?

Alakazam8 · 12/01/2025 23:00

Has anyone brought any drinks to waiting room this year? Might need one- now looking like it’s a nightmare to get to/from rearranged first audition due to train strikes!!!

Biscuitsneeded · 13/01/2025 08:35

Oh what a pain @Alakazam8 . Passing you the gin! Where did you rearrange for? Is there anywhere else that might be further but actually easier to get to?

Wigeon · 13/01/2025 09:04

Sorry you are having logistical nightmares @Alakazam8 ! Fingers crossed you can sort something.

DD had a lot of fun at the audition yesterday, apparently they will let is know the outcome by Thursday this week which seems nice and quick. And at the very least she had a great day auditioning.

I'm glad your DD enjoyed it @Wigeon . Was she in Cambridge or London?

Wigeon · 14/01/2025 18:33

She was in London. There were about 75 of them split up into three groups of about 25, each group rotated between acting, singing, dancing.

Wigeon · 15/01/2025 16:03

Just got audition outcome - she got invited to the skills workshops so didn't get a show or new musical. Understand that there are too many kids to give feedback (that's what they said on the Instagram Q&A recently), but it would be handy to know! We knew it was a long shot though, given the competition. Good luck to anyone going forward to the casting workshops!

yodaforpresident · 15/01/2025 17:28

Sad to hear that @Wigeon, hopefully your DD is not too upset. Would she consider taking the skills course? Unfortunately, I think they just don't have the time to given feedback as there are so many auditionees. Is she auditioning for BYMT? My DD was offered the skills workshop last year (after being in a show the previous year) but didn't attend as she was offered a BYMT show. I think it reallly is about the fit for specific shows for NYMT.

Truetoself · 15/01/2025 18:19

@yodaforpresident any feedback on BYMT? Was your DD's experience good?

yodaforpresident · 15/01/2025 19:04

She has really enjoyed BYMT. Really enjoyable experience with amazing professionals and fantastic pastoral care - exhausting though and be prepared for tears at the end of the two weeks! She would say the same about NYMT.

Advent0range · 15/01/2025 21:51

Hi! Newbie here - DC has.an audition for the musician side of NYMT coming up soon; just wondering what the odds were. I haven't read the full thread yet, forgive me - was just signposted here.

Edited for spelling mistake

Comefromaway · 15/01/2025 22:14

What does your child play? The odds really depend on the instrument played and the shows (assuming they are the right standard).
I know in the past they have advertised for more drummers, and specific brass instruments. Being able to double also increases your chances but it’s not essential.
