Hopefully this will work as we’re at 999 on the other!

Oh weird, that's a bit of a trek. I hope your DS enjoys Bath. He'll probably bump into a few olympians while he's up there!
They have some great facilities at Bath Uni.

A stunning result for mini Yuja!

Our Counties finished this weekend. I imagine that they will rethink scheduling it to coincide with 1/2 term (so many withdrawals!).

itsgettingweird · 13/02/2023 08:30

I'm hoping to see the uni pool because that's where I collect him from!

I dropped him at a very posh hotel about 15 minutes away.

He's very happy because they got new kit! So 2 t shirts and a jumper!

He has more hoodies and T shirts than he can wear in a month 🤣🤣

Glittertwins · 13/02/2023 09:33

Saves on laundry bills!

Well done to your DD @Yuja, brilliant results and really pleased she enjoyed it too.

Hope your DS enjoys his camp itsgettingweird.

Last weekend of counties done for us. Younger DS had another great weekend, coming away with a silver and two gold medals, plus some really big PBs. So pleased for him, my heart was racing during the two finals he won which were both close! Eldest had a good weekend too, with decent swims in everything and a couple of great swims. He had a rubbish counties last year and went through a really difficult period with swimming so it’s been so good to see him doing well again.

WidowTwonky · 13/02/2023 11:48

Well done to all those who swam - sounds like some great results.
DS made one final and a tiny PB. No medal but another pendant to go in the drawer!

itsgettingweird · 13/02/2023 13:57

Great counties results all round.

Ds doesn't have his next counties swims until 25/26th.

Then a few weeks before BPSIM in Sheffield which is a target meet for him. I know AB swimmers have their British champs in April.

Then club LC meet Easter weekend.

Regionals for his age group is BH weekend end of April.

When do others have their regionals?

Then that's it for him until summer meets although his club are running a national qualifier in May I'm not planning to put him in unless his coach insists!

Eccle80 · 13/02/2023 17:13

Our regionals are 5 days over the two bank holiday weekends at the start of May. Youngest has 5 regional times and just missed another (I think, conversions are a bit confusing as if I convert his time to LC it puts it right on the QT, if I convert the qualifying time to SC it would put him over it by a few hundredths. I wish they would just publish both sets of times!)
Eldest missed the regional time he is aiming at by 0.2 at counties, hopefully he will manage to get that at one of the open meets.

Glittertwins · 13/02/2023 17:21

Looks like the non distance events are the beginning of May with the distance events either side

WidowTwonky · 13/02/2023 19:15

Our regionals are over 3 weekends with the open age being start of May (BH weekend).

Saw a positive statement from our region in response to the recent cost of living concerns and pool hire costs -
Individual entries will be reduced, team entries reduced, poolside accreditation frozen and spectator fees reduced for our competition

itsgettingweird · 13/02/2023 19:36

Our age group (boys to 15 and girls to 14) have to separate weekends - one of which has changed due to coronation.

The youth (girls 15O and boys 16O) is just BH weekend and all relays are that weekend.

Madcats · 14/02/2023 08:13

SW always have Regionals for 15+ on the (early) May bank holiday weekend down in Plymouth (3 days). The Juniors have the weekend of 22/23 April down at Millfield and then their 2nd weekend has been pushed back to 13/14 May in Bristol.

Entries are £9/event and £20 for relays. Counties were £6/event (most open meets seem to be charging £7.50).

itsgettingweird · 14/02/2023 12:33

Same dates as SE!

Age are at Winchester and youth/relays at high Wycombe. £7 and event and £14 relays. Same cost as counties.

So today was the day my swimmer finally got braces. As per usual he had to be the odd one out and has both fixed and removable braces at the same time which I've never heard of before. We didn't know he ws getting the fixed ones so I havent had time to prepare food wise.

After swimming he normally eats a protein bar on the way home but the ones he likes are kind of sticky and chewy so not good with braces. Does anyone hve any post training snacks that might work? He doesnt like milk, yogurt, protein shakes, any seeds or nuts or nut butters.

Glittertwins · 17/02/2023 15:31

We did frozen fruit smoothies.
Frozen red berries, apple juice and vanilla protein powder. Comes out really thick!

Glittertwins · 17/02/2023 15:32

The protein powder just makes it taste like icecream over all. No milk at all.

Ooh that sounds good thank you, I will add those to my weekend shopping list. I think will have to keep the ingredients a secret from him otherwise he will just decide he doesnt like it before he has even tried it. I've honestly never met a 12 year old boy who eats so little and then with the swimming on top its a wonder he hasn't wasted away.

itsgettingweird · 17/02/2023 15:59

Will he eat porridge? You can make that with water if he doesn't like it with milk or yoghurt. You can add flavour with the spices - my fave is cinnamon.

Hellocatshome · 17/02/2023 16:05

@itsgettingweird ah I knew I would miss some things off the list. Porridge is also on the no list unfortunately.

Glittertwins · 17/02/2023 16:33

I'm not a porridge fan either although I like muesli. It's the warm milk that does it

Do isn't a fan either but will eat the Quaker Oats flapjacks which are basically porridge in a bar!!!

Probably wouldn't work for braces either though.

Does he eat cheese? That's a good source of protein and apparently apples are good too (so stewed apple?) and orange juice.

Or eggs?

I make oats with muller yoghurt.

It's yummy!

My favourite is toffee yoghurt mixed with oats and stewed apple mixed in.

Glittertwins · 17/02/2023 21:11

I'll eat muesli with yogurt too. Well, that's if I can get near it as we seem to be in full on plague of locusts mode here

itsgettingweird · 18/02/2023 10:26

Ours are next weekend.

Good luck to anyone swimming today Star

Glittertwins · 18/02/2023 12:42

I have a whole 2 weekends of no swimming !!!
