Hopefully this will work as we’re at 999 on the other!

Have no idea what happened! I'm up at 4am 4 weekdays out of 5 and at 5am on Saturday. I've always managed it and sleep pattern around it. This week I've increasingly felt more and more tried and this morning I just could not get up! I didn't even have the willpower to try 🤣🤣

Glittertwins · 10/02/2023 16:27

Have you had a lot on? Counties plus coaching plus a full time job killed me off

OP posts:
itsgettingweird · 10/02/2023 19:46

I had a cold end of last week.

But it's this week it's caught up with me so I'm thinking that was probably the cause of wiping me out!

It's end of term so have a week off now. Although have to drive ds to Bath Sunday and pick him up Wednesday as he's at a para camp.

Madcats · 10/02/2023 19:47

A really genuine QN to you 'up and out to an early swim' parents; when do you sleep?

Teateaandmoretea · 10/02/2023 19:56

@Madcats it baffles me too. Dd does Saturday morning (well sometimes 🤣) but DH is in masters so he goes too.

I'm in bed at 9!!!!

Not always easy because we get home at 8.30/40 2 nights a week.

One is a Tuesday but we don't swim at all Wednesdays and the other is Thursday - and clearly that didn't work yesterday/ this morning 🤣🤣🤦‍♀️

Ds has a heavy training timetable. It works better for him because he does 2 days work 8.30-2.30 and 2 days at college doing a HNC and one is WFH and the other is 9-4.30.

He has no work, college or swimming Wednesdays so isn't up until 10.30!!! I still work that day and work the other days too.

Luckily I work in education so the holidays are what rescues me Grin

WidowTwonky · 10/02/2023 20:57

I’ve moaned on previous threads but we have the crap swim times, and so swim until 9 every night and not in bed til gone 10. And he’s had those particular slots since he was 10 yrs old which was really hard when he was younger.
So he refuses to do the 2 early swims and I fully back him on that

itsgettingweird · 10/02/2023 21:41

That is harsh.

Ds swimming is Mon, tues, thurs and Fri 5-7am and 5-7pm. Then tues and thurs it's 7-8pm gym. Saturday is 6-7 gym and 7-9 swim.

So although it's earlier in evening which in itself can provide challenges we can generally manage a god nights sleep.

We just have to be regimented about it!

Teateaandmoretea · 10/02/2023 21:41

@itsgettingweird you work in education on top of all this 😱🏆

itsgettingweird · 10/02/2023 21:44

I do. I'm not a teacher! I'm pastoral support for behaviour across a federation of special schools. So full on job whilst in school (very unpredictable but rewarding!) but at least the hours are reasonable! I work 8.30 until 3.45/4ish term time only.

Teateaandmoretea · 10/02/2023 21:46

You truly are a superhuman. It’s where your DS gets it from ❤️🤣

Teateaandmoretea · 10/02/2023 21:51

We have a ‘fun’ junior gala tomorrow night where we are going to get battered by the bigger local clubs 🤦🏻‍♀️.

Dd2 loves swimming 25 metres though, it’s her specialty distance 🤣

itsgettingweird · 10/02/2023 22:14

Yeh I think 25m would be my favourite too 🤣🤣

Eccle80 · 10/02/2023 22:26

I don’t know how people manage the early mornings, I think I’d really struggle both with my actual ability to get up then, and with how to avoid it impacting my youngest when my DH is away. Ours tend to be on the later side, the weeknight sessions finish between 8.15 and 9.30 depending on the day

itsgettingweird · 11/02/2023 05:16

I do think being a LP and ds being an only child does help when it comes to organising his swimming timetable. There's no one else to worry about!

Madcats · 10/02/2023 19:47

We split the training runs between the two of us. I'm more the early person, he's the later one. I can often be flat out asleep when they get home in the evening. We did swap around an early morning session as there wasn't enough sleep between getting home and getting up.

There are people with sessions that start at 5!? I thought I had it hard but DD swims 6-7 in the mornings - we get up at 5.30, leave at 5.40! I can only make this work because I wfh I don't know how anyone does it when they have to be in a school or something

We get home at 7.20/25am.

Leave at 8 ish.

I have lunches ready to go so all we do is change clothes etc.

Glittertwins · 11/02/2023 08:30

Yes, same here. Home around 7:20am, breakfast eaten. We sort out hot food between us and they've got the majority of school bags packed the night before ( this does not always happen though). We aren't too far from school though - commuting to pool and school would be very difficult.

We used to shower at leisure centre, get dressed for work (me) and school uniform (DD), eat breakfast in car en route to school and work.

She was always the girl with dripping hair in top knot.

We have since moved clubs so not an issue anymore.

Good luck to those swimming counties this weekend.

Swimmum1206 · 11/02/2023 14:01

DS morning training is 5-7.15. He's normally home from evening training around 9 and in bed at 10.

With the morning sessions he's literally up and 4.45 and at the pool by 5. His school stuff is packed and ready the night before. He has a long commute to school and the bus stop is a 20 minute drive from the pool. I have to collect him from the pool by 7 ( he gets out early) with his school bag and breakfast. He eats breakfast in the car on the way to the bus. On the bus at 7.26 and at school for 8.15. Saturday training is 6-8am. By the afternoon we're all exhausted!

Yuja · 12/02/2023 18:02

Well, counties was a new experience for us but DD (11 age group) had a fantastic weekend. She came 4th for the 200 free and the 100 breast, and pulled out an 8 second pb for the 200 breast and came 2nd - she was beaten only by a girl who seems to pulling out similar times to the 14 year olds so this was a real achievement for her. I think I might burst with pride and she is so delighted with her performance. She did a couple of 50s that were PBs but didn't rank very highly, but she still seems pretty happy about those too.

One more weekend to go, but it's been overwhelmingly positive for DD and she's loved cheering on her team mates too. I wish I had been a swimmer when I was younger she's having the best time.

Glittertwins · 12/02/2023 18:06

Well done to mini @Yuja ⭐️

itsgettingweird · 12/02/2023 19:47

Brilliant yuga Star glad she's enjoying it too!

I've just done a 4 hour round trip to drop DS at swim camp in Bath. Doing it again Wednesday to bring him home 🤣
