A new installment of the long running music parent threads. Everyone is welcome from complete beginners to grade 8 and beyond. Thanks as ever to the lovely waffle for starting the threads up and looking after them for years. What are your plans for the coming term? Any exams, auditions, festivals, new instruments? Yes, it was wonderful, not normally my cup of tea. Dc told me not to bother going, so wish I had now.

It was Radio 3 in concert.

Chovihano wow! That must be quite an experience to hear your dc on redio 3!
I have radio 3 on to tune into different music but can’t imagine my dc playing in it one day.

Hi - can someone direct me to the website for black frocks suitable for girls to wear for a concert performance? DD potentially has a more formal occasion coming up and she wants to start scoping out the clothing possibilities (I think she’d be better spending her time practising the relevant piece but heigh-ho!)

I’m not sure; I have only bought cheap stuff so far, and am at the ££££ of the stuff directed at adults. What size is your dd? Is she in adult sizin yet? I think I would be looking beyond the stuff marketed as concert dress if so.

Having had two girls go through many years of concert dress shopping the best place I found, if your DD is adult sizing now, was House of Fraser online sale items, under evening dresses. Can be hit and miss depending on what is in the sale but I've picked up some wonderful dresses from there.

I must say I'm quite envious of everyone waiting for results. DS's exam isn't until next week and he's very much over it all. Any tips to get through the last few days much appreciated!

Only a pass for us... I hoped for a better result but it is ok ok. She is still 10 and has got time to improve. Good luck to you!!!

Lucky a pass is literally all you need. Well done! I know kids that have resat G5 Theory several times ... Honestly, a pass is grand!

@luckyfab well done to your DD!!! that is excellent and all she needs to move onto G6. dd will also turn 10 next month so will be pleased to get this over with... still waiting . Think I need to walk away from all electronics for a few hours. Wearing battery down with my constant refreshing

Thistly She loved every minute of it, even after rehearsals that seemed to drag on for ages.

If you google children's concert dress you'll get all sorts, honestly that's all I did. Mine is in adult now so not as difficult, but you still need to look at the cut, style etc.

Anyone who knows me will remember I occasionally find a belter that is just beyond good. So here is the latest, hope you enjoy. You can't very well not enjoy this.

Just texted DS2's teacher to ask if he's checked. Now on tenterhooks - I've got everything crossed for his Grade 5 theory.

Aargh! DS2's teacher won't check! He says he'd get an email when the results are out. BUT THEY ARE!!

Ah, hopefully music centre will let us know tomorrow... too late for today now.

I am still waiting here. Yesterday I called to find out why they haven't arrived yet and apparently they hadn't received the supporting documents. While on the phone they said 'oh yes they do have the email' and that they would be available later that day. And now they still haven't arrived.
