Hey everyone,

I really would like to start walking every day not only for my depression that Im strugling to get through but also to try and lose a bit of weight and gain a bit more confidence about myself.

I am seeking just a bit of advice on how long I should aim to walk for to see benefits eventually? Any advice is really appreciated.

Great way to lose weight, strengthen bones help lift your mood.

Be realistic.if all you can manage is 20mins them that is better than nothing.30mins 5x per week would give you good results.Vairy your route so you can include some hills if possible.

Take a friend. The time passes realy quickly when you are having a natter.

I am a fitness trainer and i suggest walk fast as possible to see results. good trainer on feet, , not just any old shoe. Drink plenty of water after / or sips during. 20 mins of exercise is when your body will roughly start to burn calories and keep going. Exercise is great for depression and always lifts my mood. A little every day is better IMHO than a mad one hour "go like a nutter" 1x weekly !

My Mum has always walked to trim up, she cuts back on cakes, crisps and sugar and generally eats well and always says she sees results in about a week!
