I have the 305 forerunner which is fabulous, I love it!

It's a bit on the big side so I wear with a sweatband under which solves that problem. It gives accurate pace info and distance and time running aswell as HR all on one screen.

The computer bit is easy, when it uploads your runs it shows where you have been on a little map which is always nice

It really couldn't be easier to use although I have heard some say that the 405 is a bit more awkward with the Bezel screen.

I originally bought the nike + thingey but never found that very accurate. I run off road so it's good to see how far I've been and how slow fast I'm going up the hills.

Good luck with your marathon training, 2 in one year is very good going. I'm doing a half marathon in a month and based on how well that goes I may go for a marathon next year.
